The Challenge (1960 Film)
''The Challenge'', released as ''It Takes a Thief'' in the United States, is a 1960 British neo noir crime film directed by John Gilling and starring Jayne Mansfield and Anthony Quayle. The film was shot in England from 12 October to around December 1959. Mansfield flew back to America on the 16th, after she finished filming. Plot Mansfield plays Billy, the ruthless gang leader who persuades Maxton to take part in a big robbery. Maxton is shopped and convicted of robbery. Maxton serves his time, returns home to his son. The gang want the money which he buried but Maxton wants nothing more to do with it or them. The gang then kidnap Maxton's son and demand the money as ransom. There follows a race against time to save Maxton's son. At the end of the film, a policeman tells Maxton that the stolen money had been found three years previously. Cast *Jayne Mansfield ... Yukari Oshima
is a Japanese former actress and martial artist. She gained prominence in Hong Kong and became popular in the Philippines as Cynthia Luster. Due to Filipinos' interest in Jackie Chan, she became Chan's pseudo female equivalent. Biography Born in Nishi-ku, Fukuoka, Japan, to a Japanese businessman and fashion designer and a Chinese woman, Oshima began studying Gōjū-ryū Seigokan karate at Ennouji Dojo in junior high school. She was one of Japan's brightest female martial artists during the 1980s and a leading figure in the '' babes and bullets'' fad of Hong Kong action cinema. She played the role of "Farrah Cat" in ''Bioman'', which aired not only in Japan originally but also worldwide. She is best known to Western audiences as Yomi in '' Riki-Oh: The Story of Ricky''. ''It Takes a Thief'' is an American action-adventure television series that aired on ABC for three seasons between 1968 and 1970. It stars Robert Wagner in his television debut as sophisticated thief Alexander Mundy, who works for the U.S. government in return for his release from prison. ''It Takes a Thief'' is a Hong Kong television series adapted from Gu Long's ''Chu Liuxiang Series''. The series was first broadcast on Rediffusion Television, RTV (now Asia Television, ATV) in Hong Kong in September 1979. Changes in title and characters' names The series' original Chinese title was 盜帥留香 (''Dou Seoi Lau Heung''; literally "Chu Liuxiang, Bandit Chief Liuxiang"). It was released around the same time as ''Chor Lau-heung (1979 TV series), Chor Lau-heung'', a similar television series produced by Television Broadcasts Limited, TVB. Rediffusion Television, RTV and TVB became involved in copyright lawsuits against each other because of similarities between ''It Takes a Thief'' and ''Chor Lau-heung''.
