2021 NCAA Division I Women's Lacrosse Championship
The 2021 NCAA Division I Women's Lacrosse Championship was the 39th annual single-elimination tournament to determine the national champion of Division I NCAA women's college lacrosse. The semifinal and championship rounds were played at Johnny Unitas Stadium in Towson, MD from May 28–30, 2021. All other rounds were played at campus sites, usually at the home field of the higher-seeded team, from May 14–22. This marked the return of the tournament after 2020 was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Johnny Unitas Stadium
Johnny Unitas Stadium is a multi-purpose sports stadium in Towson, Maryland, United States. The home of several Towson University athletics teams, it is also known as Minnegan Field at Johnny Unitas Stadium or Unitas Stadium. History The stadium opened in 1978 as Towson Stadium when the Towson Tigers were in their ninth year of collegiate play and their final year of Division III. The new, lighted facility had 5,000 seats. The name of the stadium was changed to Minnegan Stadium in 1983 to honor former Towson coach and athletic director Donald "Doc" Minnegan. The sports complex began a $32 million renovation beginning in 1999. The renovations, which were completed in 2002, added 6,000 seats, artificial turf, an entry-level plaza, concession stands, new restrooms, ticket booths, a four-tier press box, a field house, and a promenade that connects the northside and southside seating areas. The Johns Hopkins Blue Jays Women's Lacrosse team represents Johns Hopkins University in the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division I women's college lacrosse competition. The Blue Jays play their home games at Homewood Field located on the school's Homewood campus in Baltimore, Maryland. The James Madison Dukes women's lacrosse team is an NCAA Division I college lacrosse team representing James Madison University as part of the American Athletic Conference. They play their home games at Sentara Park in Harrisonburg, Virginia. The Dukes have been led by Shelley Klaes-Bawcombe since 2007. The ASUN Conference, formerly the Atlantic Sun Conference, is a collegiate athletic conference operating mostly in the Southeastern United States. The Jacksonville Dolphins are the intercollegiate athletics teams that represent Jacksonville University, located in Jacksonville, Florida. The Dolphins participate in NCAA Division I athletics, and are primarily members of the ASUN Conference. The High Point Panthers women's lacrosse team is an NCAA Division I college lacrosse team representing High Point University as part of the Big South Conference. A nationwide search was conducted for its first head coach, and Lyndsey Boswell was hired the following summer.
