Félix María Zuloaga
Félix María Zuloaga was a Mexican conservative general and politician who played a key role in the outbreak of the Reform War in early 1860, a war which would see him elevated to the presidency of the nation. President Zuloaga was unrecognized by and fought against the liberals supporters of President Benito Juarez. Zuloaga’s forces quickly gained control over the capital, and the central states of the nation, winning every major engagement during the first year of the war, and even temporarily capturing Juarez and his entire cabinet, but in the end, the liberals were not decisively defeated, still controlled large parts of the nation’s periphery, and Juarez remained securely entrenched in the strategic port of Veracruz. Ignacio Zuloaga
Ignacio Zuloaga y Zabaleta (July 26, 1870October 31, 1945) was a Spanish painter, born in Eibar (Guipuzcoa), near the monastery of Loyola. Family He was the son of metalworker and damascener Plácido Zuloaga and grandson of the organizer and director of the royal armoury ( Don Eusebio) in Madrid. His uncle was Daniel Zuloaga. His great-grandfather who was also the royal armourer was a friend and contemporary of Goya. Biography In his youth, he drew and worked in the armourer's workshop of his father, Plácido. His father's craftmanship, a familial trade, was highly respected throughout Europe, but he intended his son for either commerce, engineering, or architecture, but during a short trip to Rome with his father, he decided to become a painter. Daniel Zuloaga
Daniel Zuloaga y Boneta (1852 – December 27, 1921) was a Spanish people, Spanish ceramic art, ceramist and painter. He is considered to be one of the innovators of art pottery in Spain. He worked primarily from his workshops in Madrid and Segovia, but his work extended throughout Spain. He participated in various international exhibitions, and his pieces can be found in other European countries. His work was characterized by using ancient techniques. Through the influence of his father, Zuloaga worked in his youth at the Royal Palace of Madrid. After training in France, Zuloaga and his brothers opened their first shop in the Real Fábrica de La Moncloa, its most representative work being the facades of the Palacio de Velázquez. His other works appear at the Palacio de Cristal and the Hospital of Maudes, among many others. Elisa Elvira Zuloaga (25 November 1900 – 14 April 1980) was a noted Venezuelan painter and engraver. Winning numerous prizes for her works, she has four landscapes in the permanent collections of the National Art Gallery in Caracas and is remembered as an important South American graphic artist. Early life Elisa Elvira Zuloaga Ramírez was born on 25 November 1900 in Caracas, Venezuela to Elisa Ramírez and Nicomedes Zuloaga. She studied at the Academy of Fine Arts, with her sister Maria Luisa Zuloaga de Tovar, under the tutelage of the Catalan artist, Angel Cabré i Magrinyà. The school broke apart in 1918 and she traveled to Paris to study at the Académie de la Grande Chaumière. Eusebio Zuloaga
Eusebio Zuloaga González (Madrid, 15 December 1808 - Deusto, Bilbao 1898), was a Spanish gunsmith. He is considered the initiator of the art of modern damascening. He was the first Spanish artist who achieved an international reputation, participating in the first international exhibition, The Great Exhibition in London in 1851. He received several awards in Spain, England, France, and Belgium. Zuloaga was director of the Royal Armoury of Madrid. Zuloaga served as head of the Royal Factory of La Moncloa. Born in Madrid in 1808, he was the son of an Eibar gunsmith, Blas de Zuloaga, and his wife, Gabriela González. Oscar Machado Zuloaga International Airport is a general aviation airport in the Miranda state of Venezuela, serving Caracas, the capital of Venezuela. The airport is named in honor of Oscar Machado Zuloaga, an engineer and civic developer. The airport sits atop a ridge south of Caracas, near the town of Charallave. Low mountain terrain lies to the north, between the airport and Caracas. The airport has an ILS approach to Runway 10. The Charallave VOR-DME (Ident: TUY) is northeast of the Runway 28 threshold.
