Potiphar's Wife
Potiphar's wife is a figure in the Hebrew Bible and the Quran. She was the wife of Potiphar, the captain of Pharaoh's guard in the time of Jacob and his twelve sons. According to the Book of Genesis, she falsely accused Joseph of attempted rape after he rejected her sexual advances, resulting in his imprisonment. In Genesis she is given no name, but in later medieval Jewish sources and Islamic tradition, she is identified as Zuleikha ( ''zoo-LAY-kah''; ; ar, زُلَيْخَا, translit=zulayḵā). Suleika (minor planet designation: 563 Suleika) is a minor planet orbiting the Sun. Previously designated as 1905 QK, it was discovered by German astronomer Paul Götz on 6 April 1905 from Heidelberg, Germany. The planet was named after a female character in Nietzsche's ''Also sprach Zarathustra''. Suleika Jaouad
Suleika Jaouad ( ; ar, سليكة جواد) is an American writer, advocate, and motivational speaker. She is the author of the "Life, Interrupted" column in ''The New York Times'' and has also written for ''Vogue, Glamour'', NPR's ''All Things Considered'' and ''Women's Health''. Her 2021 memoir ''Between Two Kingdoms'' was a ''New York Times'' Best Seller. When Jaouad was diagnosed with a rare form of acute myeloid leukemia in 2011, doctors said she had only a 35% chance of surviving. She survived and has written and spoken extensively about her medical experiences. Her Emmy Award-winning column, "Life, Interrupted" was part of the ''New York Times'' Well blog. In December 2021, Jaouad announced her cancer had returned and that she had undergone a second bone marrow transplant. ''Zuleika Dobson'', full title ''Zuleika Dobson, or, an Oxford love story'', is the only novel by English essayist Max Beerbohm, a satire of undergraduate life at Oxford published in 1911. It includes the famous line "Death cancels all engagements" and presents a corrosive view of Edwardian Oxford. In 1998, the Modern Library ranked ''Zuleika Dobson'' 59th on its list of the 100 best English-language novels of the 20th century. The book largely employs a third-person narrator limited to the character of Zuleika (pronounced "Zu-lee-ka"), then shifting to that of the Duke, then halfway through the novel suddenly becoming a first-person narrator who claims inspiration from the Greek Muse Clio, with his all-seeing narrative perspective provided by Zeus. ''Zuleikha'' (russian: Зулейха́ открыва́ет глаза́, ''Zuleihka otkrivaet glaza'' 'Zuleikha Opens Her Eyes'' is a debut novel written in 2015 by the Russian author Guzel Yakhina. It describes the lives of various people, including the titular protagonist, struggling to survive in exile in Siberia from 1930 to 1946. The book won the Yasnaya Polyana Literary Award and the Big Book Award in 2015. It has been translated into twenty-one languages.
