Zorra, Ontario
Zorra is a township in Oxford County, situated in south-western Ontario, Canada. A predominantly rural municipality, Zorra was formed in 1975 through the amalgamation of East Nissouri, West Zorra and North Oxford townships. It is best known for the Highland Games weekend held each summer in Embro, celebrating the heritage of the Scottish pioneer families which grew from the 1830s to form nearly a quarter of the county's population. Bob Hayward
Robert D. Hayward (October 28, 1927 - September 10, 1961) was a Canadians, Canadian powerboat racer who was a three-time winner of the Harmsworth Cup as the pilot of ''Miss Supertest III''. From Embro, Ontario, Hayward was raised on his family's chicken farm and joined the Supertest racing team as a mechanic in 1957. Piloting ''Miss Supertest III'', Hayward won the Harmsworth Cup in 1959, 1960, and 1961. A month after winning his third Harmsworth Cup, Hayward was killed while racing ''Miss Supertest II'' at the Silver Cup regatta on the Detroit River. The boat flipped over at 175 mph, breaking Hayward's neck. He was 33 years old. After his death, the Supertest team retired from racing. Hayward was inducted in the Canadian Motorsport Hall of Fame in 2000. A YMCA in London, Ontario, where he lived at the time of his death, is named after him. Mark Jeffrey Hominick (born July 22, 1982) is a Canadian retired mixed martial artist who competed in the Featherweight division for the Ultimate Fighting Championship where he was the inaugural Featherweight title challenger, the WEC, and Affliction. He is also a former TKO Featherweight Champion. He was well known for his outstanding boxing skills and very accurate punching techniques, often utilizing the jab. Background As a teen he attended Ingersoll District Collegiate Institute. Jonathan Goforth
Jonathan Goforth (, February 10, 1859 – October 8, 1936) was a Canadian Presbyterian missionary to China with the Canadian Presbyterian Mission, along with his wife, Rosalind (Bell-Smith) Goforth. Jonathan Goforth became the foremost missionary revivalist in early 20th-century China and helped to establish revivalism as a major element in Protestant China missions. Biography Goforth grew up on an Oxford County, Ontario, farm, the seventh of eleven children. As a young man he taught school in Thamesford, Ontario. Hearing fellow Oxford County native George Leslie Mackay, Presbyterian missionary to Taiwan, speak, he sensed a call from God to go to China. He attended the University of Toronto, and Knox College, where he graduated in 1887, and was awarded the Doctor of Divinity in 1915. Henry John Cody (December 6, 1868 – April 27, 1951) was a Canadian clergyman and President of the University of Toronto from 1932 to 1945 and Chancellor from 1944 to 1947. Born in Embro, Ontario, the eldest son of Elijah Cody and Margaret Louisa Torrance, he attended Galt Collegiate Institute and the University of Toronto.
