The Zoroasteridae are one of three families of Asteroidea (sea stars) in the order Forcipulatida. It contains seven living genera and one extinct genus. The Forcipulatida are an order of sea stars, containing three families and 49 genera Genus ( plural genera ) is a taxonomic rank used in the biological classification of living and fossil organisms as well as viruses. Description Forcipulatids share with the brisingid sea stars distinctive pedicellariae, consisting of a short stalk with three skeletal Ossicle (echinoderm), ossicles. Extinct
Extinction is the termination of a kind of organism or of a group of kinds (taxon), usually a species. The moment of extinction is generally considered to be the death of the last individual of the species, although the capacity to breed and recover may have been lost before this point. Family (biology)
