Zorko Čanadi
Zorko Čanadi (25 July 1925 – 24 August 2003) was a General officer, general of the Yugoslav People's Army (JNA). Biography In 1943, during World War II in Yugoslavia, Čanadi joined both the Yugoslav Partisans and the League of Communists of Yugoslavia (SKJ). He was promoted to Major General in 1972, Lieutenant General in 1976 and Colonel General in 1982. In the 1970s and the 1980s, he held a number of senior positions in the Yugoslav People's Army (JNA). He was chief of staff and therefore deputy commander of the First Army in 1974–1978, and commander of the Fifth Army in 1980–1985. In 1985–1987, he held the position of the Chief of the General Staff (Yugoslavia)#Yugoslav People's Army (1945–1992), Chief of the General Staff of the JNA. He retired from active military service on 31 December 1987. Orahovica
Orahovica is a town in Slavonia, Croatia. It is situated on the slopes of the mountain Papuk and positioned on the state road D2 Varaždin- Koprivnica- Našice- Osijek. History The name Orahovica is derived from the word ''orah'', meaning a walnut tree. Orahovica was first officially mentioned in the year 1228, in a historical document issued by king Andrew II. Ružica fortification, not far from Orahovica, was first mentioned in the year 1357 as a royal estate. World War II in the Kingdom of Yugoslavia began on 6 April 1941, when the country was swiftly conquered by Axis forces and partitioned between Germany, Italy, Hungary, Bulgaria and their client regimes. Stevan Mirković ( sr-cyr, Стеван Мирковић; 27 October 1927 – 26 September 2015) was a Serb general of the Yugoslav People's Army (JNA). Biography In 1944, during World War II in Yugoslavia, Mirković joined both the Yugoslav Partisans and the League of Communists of Yugoslavia (SKJ). He was wounded on the Syrmian Front and near Brčko. Petar Gračanin (Serbian Cyrillic: Петар Грачанин; 22 June 1923 – 27 June 2004) was a Yugoslav and Serbian politician and general in the Yugoslav People's Army. Biography Petar Gračanin was born on 22 June 1923 in Jagodina, then part of the Kingdom of Serbs, Croats and Slovenes. In July 1941, he joined the Yugoslav Partisans. After the formation of the 2nd Proletarian Brigade, in March 1942, at first he was a member and later the commander of a battalion. He was initiated as a SKOJ member in the League of Communists of Yugoslavia in 1942. He was promoted to his first military rank in 1943. Lieutenant general (Lt Gen, LTG and similar) is a three-star military rank (NATO code OF-8) used in many countries. The rank traces its origins to the Middle Ages, where the title of lieutenant general was held by the second-in-command on the battlefield, who was normally subordinate to a captain general. Major general (abbreviated MG, maj. gen. and similar) is a military rank used in many countries. It is derived from the older rank of sergeant major general. The disappearance of the "sergeant" in the title explains the apparent confusion of a lieutenant general outranking a major general, whereas a major outranks a lieutenant.
