Antonios Zois
Antonios Zois ( el, Αντώνιος Ζώης; c. 1869–1941) was a Greeks, Greek chieftain of the Macedonian Struggle from Bitola, Monastir. Biography Antonios Zois was born in about 1869Εκλογικός κατάλογος του δήμου Φλώρινας του 1914 in Bitola, Monastir. On 17 April 1903, the Bulgarians, Bulgarian anarchist group "Boatmen of Thessaloniki" blew up the French-flagged steamboat "Guadalquivir". The event provoked retaliation by the Ottoman Empire, Ottoman authorities against all Christians. The events of Thessaloniki caused similar situations in Monastir, where on 23 April (Saint George's feast day) assaults against the Christians were recorded. Antonios Zois was being hunted by Turkish soldiers and others, who were chasing him with knives. He managed to escape them taking refuge in the house of a Jews, Jew who hid him. Chris L. Zois (commonly known as Chris Zois) is an American author of two short-term therapy books. Early life and education Zois graduated from Rutgers University in New Jersey with a major in philosophy. He obtained his medical degree from New York Medical College and completed a residency in psychiatry at New York Hospital. Career Zois is the author of two books on short term therapy: "Think Like a Shrink", a self-help book published by Warner Books; and a textbook, "Short Term Therapy Techniques", Jason Aronson Publishers. Christos Zois ( el, Χρήστος Ζώης; born 10 May 1968) is a Greek politician. He is currently the leader of NEA MERA, and Deputy Chairman of the Union for the Homeland and the People. He was formerly a Member of the Hellenic Parliament (MP) for New Democracy, but left in 2012 along with ten other New Democracy MPs to found the Independent Greeks. Karl von Zois zu Laibach (18 November 1756 – 29 October 1799) was a Carniolan amateur botanist and plant collector. Von Zois was described as a "country gentleman". He is best known today as the namesake of zoysiagrass, which was named by Carl Ludwig Willdenow in 1801. The bellflower '' Campanula zoysii'' is also named after him. The Zois family was of Lombard origin; Karl's father was Michelangelo Zois (1694–1777), a merchant who married a Carniolan noblewoman, and was nobilitated in 1739. Peter Zoïs (born 21 April 1978) is a retired Australian footballer and manager Victorian Premier League side Oakleigh Cannons. Career Zois represented all of the Victorian State teams at junior level before receiving a scholarship at the Victorian Institute of Sport playing in the former National Youth League. Before making his move overseas he played a season with South Melbourne in the former National Soccer League. He also spent a short spell at Cardiff City, being brought in on a trial period due to an injury to Jon Hallworth. Sigmund Zois Freiherr von Edelstein, usually referred as Sigmund Zois ( sl, Žiga Zois, formerly Slovenized as ''Cojs'' or ''Cojz''; ) (23 November 1747 – 10 November 1819) was a Carniolan nobleman, natural scientist and patron of the arts. Zois Karampelas (Greek: Ζωής Καράμπελας, born April 27, 2001) is a Greek professional basketball player for AEK Athens of the Greek Basket League and the Basketball Champions League. He plays at the point guard position. Professional career Karampelas began his pro career in the Greek 2nd Division with Peristeri, in the 2017–18 season. Joe Panos (born Zois Panagiotopoulos on January 24, 1971) is a former American football offensive lineman in the National Football League (NFL) for the Philadelphia Eagles and Buffalo Bills. Zois Mansion
Zois Mansion ( sl, Zoisova palača) is a mansion in Ljubljana, the capital of Slovenia. It stands in the Center District, at Breg, a street on the west (left) bank of the Ljubljanica, between Teutonic Street () to the north and Zois Street () to the south. The mansion served as residence of Baron Sigmund Zois, a leading figure of Enlightenment in the Slovene Lands of the Austrian monarchy and supporter of the revival of Slovene culture and literature. The mansion was built between 1765 and 1805, combining until 1770 four older buildings, and then in 1805 another one. The facade was redesigned in the neoclassicist style in 1798. Zois Lodge At Kokra Saddle
The Zois Lodge at Kokra Saddle ( sl, Cojzova koča na Kokrskem sedlu; ) is a mountain hostel that stands on Kokra Saddle (), part of the Kamnik–Savinja Alps. It is named after the brothers Karl Zois (1756–1799), and Sigmund Zois (1747–1819). The first lodge was built from wood in 1897 by the Austrian hiking club. After World War I it had to be rebuilt. In 1966, it was expanded and connected via a ropeway conveyor to Konec in the Kamnik Bistrica Valley. The lodge operates from the start of June through the middle of October. The lodge offers Slovenian drinks, such as Cockta, and traditional dishes such as ''bujta repa''.
