Marion Sylvester "Bud" Zipfel (born November 18, 1938) is a retired American professional baseball player who appeared in 118 games over two seasons in Major League Baseball for the 1961–1962 Washington Senators. Born in Belleville, Illinois, he was a first baseman and left fielder who batted left-handed, threw right-handed, stood tall and weighed . Baseball career After graduating from Belleville High School in 1956, Zipfel signed with the New York Yankees. He steadily progressed through the Yankees' minor league system over the next five years, showing some potential as a powerful, left-handed-hitting first baseman. He exceeded the 20-homer mark twice, in the Class D New York–Penn League (21 in 1958) and the Class A Eastern League (28 in 1960). Patrick Zipfel (born October 15, 1967) is an American basketball coach and former college athletics director. He is currently an assistant coach and advance scout for the Phoenix Suns of the National Basketball Association (NBA). Zipfel worked as assistant coach/advance scout for the Chicago Bulls(NBA)as well as the Minnesota Timberwolves. In October 2015, Zipfel accepted an interim coaching position at Mansfield University, located in Mansfield, Pennsylvania to help restore the program. Early years Zipfel earned a bachelor’s degree from Cabrini College in English/communications in 1989. Paul Albert Zipfel (September 22, 1935 – July 14, 2019) was an American prelate of the Roman Catholic Church. He served as the sixth bishop of the Diocese of Bismarck in North Dakota from 1997 to 2011. Zipfel served as an auxiliary bishop of the Archdiocese of Saint Louis from 1989 to 1996. Biography Early life Paul Zipfel was born on September 22, 1935, in St. Louis, Missouri, to Albert and Leona (née Rau) Zipfel. He had two older siblings, Ralph and Marion. Paul Zipfel attended St. Michael's Elementary School from 1940 to 1949, and afterwards entered the St. Louis Preparatory Seminary. Zipfel then studied at Kenrick Seminary in Shrewsbury, Missouri (1955–1957) and the Catholic University of America in Washington, D.C. (1957–1961).
