Nick Zinner
Nicholas Joseph Zinner (born December 8, 1974) is an American guitarist for the New York rock band Yeah Yeah Yeahs and a record producer. Zinner is an accomplished photographer. Musical career Before forming the Yeah Yeahs Yeahs with Karen O and Brian Chase in 2000, Zinner attended Bard College where he played in the Boba Fett Experience, who later changed their name to Challenge of the Future because of concerns about being sued by George Lucas. The band moved to Williamsburg, Brooklyn in the late 1990s and broke up in 2001. Since 2001, Zinner has many collaborative efforts with such acts as TV on the Radio, Har Mar Superstar, Ronnie Spector, The Horrors, and Scarlett Johansson. He contributed guitar and keyboard to several tracks on Bright Eyes' 2005 album ''Digital Ash in a Digital Urn'' and went on tour with the band as part of the rotating roster. Peter Zinner
Peter Zinner (July 24, 1919 – November 13, 2007) was an Austrian-American film editor. Following nearly fifteen years of uncredited work as an assistant sound editor, Zinner received credits on more than fifty films from 1959 to 2006. His most influential films are likely ''The Godfather'' and ''The Godfather Part II'', both of which appear on a 2012 listing of the 75 best edited films of all time compiled by the Motion Picture Editors Guild. Early life He was born in Vienna, Austria, and studied music there in the Theresianum and at the Max Reinhardt Seminar. Following the occupation of Austria by Nazi Germany in 1938, Zinner and his parents, who were Jewish, emigrated. They went first to the Philippines, and in 1940 to the United States. As a young man, Zinner worked in Los Angeles as a taxi driver and occasionally as a pianist at screenings of silent films. Ernst Zinner
Ernst Zinner (2 February 1886 in Goldberg, Silesia – 30 August 1970) was a German astronomer and noted historian of astronomy. After studies in Munich and Jena he obtained his PhD in 1907 at the University of Jena, followed by stays at the University of Lund, the University of Paris, and the Königstuhl Observatory in Heidelberg. From 1 February 1910, Zinner worked as an assistant at Remeis Observatory, Bamberg. Here, on 23 October 1913 he rediscovered the Comet Giacobini-Zinner, which had been previously discovered by Michel Giacobini in 1900. His main work during this time was on variable stars. After working as a meteorologist during World War I, Zinner returned to Bamberg, but then moved to Munich to work in geodesy. In 1924 Zinner received the professor's title from the University of Munich. He was appointed director of Remeis-Observatory in Bamberg, Germany, in 1926 and retired in 1956. Hedda Zinner
Hedda Zinner, or Hedda Erpenbeck-Zinner (20 May 1904 – 4 July 1994), was a German political writer, actress, comedian, journalist and radio director. Biography Hedda Zinner was born in Lemberg on May 20, 1904. She attended the Acting Academy there from 1923 to 1925. Zinner began working as an actress but her interest in the workers' movement led her to move to Berlin and, in 1929, join the Communist Party of Germany. She became a journalist for left-wing journals. When Hitler came to power, she moved to Vienna and then Prague, where she founded the cabaret Studio 34 in 1934. In 1935 she emigrated to Moscow. After the Second World War she settled in East Berlin. In 1980, Zinner was awarded the Order of Karl Marx. Zinner also wrote under the pseudonym Elisabeth Frank. Biography He won a tournament at Králicky 1929; tied for 5-6th at Bilina 1930 ( Heinz Foerder won); tied for 8-10th at Brno 1931 (Salo Flohr won), tied for 2nd-4th at Moravska Ostrava 1933 ( Ernst Grünfeld won); tied for 4-6th at Bad Liebenwerda 1934 (Flohr won); tied for 5-7th at Luhačovice 1935 ( Karel Opočenský won); tied for 2nd-3rd, behind Karl Gilg at Konstantinsbad 1935; took 15th at Poděbrady 1936 (Flohr won), and took 2nd, behind Paul Keres, at Prague 1937.
