Zillah Bell Gallery
The Zillah Bell Art Gallery is a contemporary art gallery exhibiting local and national artists. Housed in a Grade II Listed Building in Thirsk, North Yorkshire, England, the gallery opened in 1988. Exhibitions Exhibitions at the Zillah Bell Gallery change monthly with annual Summer and Christmas exhibitions, the latter serving partly as a retrospective of the year and including the work of both established and up and coming Artists. In 1996 and 2000, the surrealist artist and writer Anthony Earnshaw, exhibited there with Another G&T in 1996 and Flowers 2 in 2000. The gallery is named after owner John Bell’s youngest daughter Zillah who, along with her sisters Daisy & Lettice Bell, were responsible for organising the Art of Care auction of postcards held in Edinburgh, 2005. Contemporary Art Gallery
A contemporary art gallery is normally a commercial art gallery operated by an art dealer which specializes in displaying for sale contemporary art, usually new works of art by living artists. Roger Kohn
Roger Kohn is a designer and author. He studied with Rowan Gillespie at York School of Art and is the Irish sculptor's biographer. Education and career Kohn was educated at Marton Hall Preparatory School and Pocklington School. After a year at York School of Art, he gained a first class honours degree in Graphic Design at Chelsea School of Art along with among others, Edward Bell (artist). At Chelsea, Kohn was taught by Edward Wright, Dennis Bailey and Susan Einzig and became friends with part-time tutor, the Scottish surrealist poet and musician Ivor Cutler. Cutler's influence on Kohn was a subtle one, but can be seen in his art. Anthony Earnshaw (9 October 1924 – 17 August 2001) was an English anarchist, artist, author and illustrator. Earnshaw was born in Ilkley, West Yorkshire. His father, a watchmaker and jeweller, died before he was born.
