Zigomar The Eelskin
''Zigomar the Eelskin'' (french: Zigomar Peau d'Anguille) (Also known as Zigomar the Black Scourge) is a 1913 French crime drama silent film directed by Victorin-Hippolyte Jasset and produced by Éclair. It was the third movie made by Jasset that used the character of Zigomar (who was originally created by the author Léon Sazie in 1909), and the second sequel to Zigomar. The story is an adaptation of a story of the same name that was published in the French newspaper Le Matin from June 30-August 26, 1912.Leon Sazie''Peau d'Anguille'' (BnF Gallica, 2008), p. 2. The film follows Paulin Broquet, the chief of police, as he struggles to recapture the escaped crime lord Zigomar and his ally, La Rosaria. The cast consists of Alexandre C. Victorin-Hippolyte Jasset (30 March 1862 - 22 June 1913) was an early film pioneer in France, active between the years 1905 and 1913. He worked on many genres of film and was particularly associated with the development of detective or crime serials, such as the Nick Carter and Zigomar series. André Liabel was a French actor, film director and screenwriter. André Liabel began his career as comedian by working full-time as an actor for the cinematographic company Laboratoires Éclair which had just opened its new studios at Épinay-sur-Seine in 1908. Zigomar Against Nick Carter
''Zigomar'' was a Yugoslav adventure comic strip about the masked hero of the same name, created by artist Nikola Navojev and writer Branko Vidić. Zigomar appeared in six stories published in comic magazine '' Mikijevo carstvo'' ('' Mickey's Kingdom'') from 1939 to 1941 and has been called one of the most notable titles of the "Golden Age of Serbian comics". Creation and publishing history Zigomar was originally created by artist Nikola Navojev, a white émigré, and writer Branko Vidić. The biggest influence on Navojev and Vidić was the Phantom, but they were also influenced by other masked heroes, like Lone Ranger, which appeared in Yugoslav comic magazines during the 1930s. Josette Andriot (23 August 1886 – 13 May 1942) was a French film actress of the silent film era, best known for playing the role of Protéa in the series of espionage films made between 1913 and 1919. She was born Camille-Élisa Andriot on 23 August 1886, in Paris (20e), the fifth of six children whose father was a dyer and their mother a florist. (Her youngest brother Lucien Andriot 892-1979became a noted cinematographer.) She joined the Éclair studios as an actress first in 1909, and then from 1911 she made around 60 films exclusively for that studio.
