Ziemowit Wojciechowski
Ziemowit Wojciechowski (born 3 October 1948) is a Polish former fencer. He is more commonly known as Ziemek. He competed in the individual and team foil events at the 1976 Summer Olympics. He was married to British Olympic fencer Susan Wrigglesworth. He now coaches Great Britain's foil team, he is also the coach of fencer Richard Kruse Richard Kruse (born 30 July 1983) is a former British right-handed foil fencer and four-time Olympian. Foil (fencing)
A foil is one of the three weapons used in the sport of fencing, all of which are metal. It is flexible, rectangular in cross section, and weighs under a pound. As with the épée, points are only scored by contact with the tip, which, in electrically scored tournaments, is capped with a spring-loaded button to signal a touch. A foil fencer's uniform features the lamé (a vest, electrically wired to record valid hits). Fencing
Fencing is a group of three related combat sports. The three disciplines in modern fencing are the foil, the épée, and the sabre (also ''saber''); winning points are made through the weapon's contact with an opponent. A fourth discipline, singlestick, appeared in the 1904 Olympics but was dropped after that and is not a part of modern fencing. Fencing was one of the first sports to be played in the Olympics. Based on the traditional skills of swordsmanship, the modern sport arose at the end of the 19th century, with the Italian school having modified the historical European martial art of classical fencing, and the French school later refining the Italian system. Susan Wrigglesworth (16 September 1954 – 17 March 1996), whose married name was Susan Wojciechowski Wojciechowski (; feminine: Wojciechowska ; plural Wojciechowscy ) is the 16th most common surname in Poland (66,879 people in 2009)Ministry of Interior (Poland). Richard Kruse
Richard Kruse (born 30 July 1983) is a former British right-handed foil fencer and four-time Olympian. In 2015, he was part of the Great Britain team that shocked Olympic champions Italy to win the first European Games gold in team foil, the first British gold medal in a team fencing event at World or European level for fifty years. He retired in 2021. Career Kruse won his first international medal, a silver, at the 2001 European Under 20 Championships and in 2002 won gold in at the same event. He made his Olympic debut at the 2004 Games in Athens, Greece. Competing in the men's individual foil. He received a bye in the first round, beat China's Wang Haibin in round two and Dan Kellner of the United States in the third round before being defeated 8–15 by Andrea Cassarà in the quarter-finals.
