Zhang Jun (economist)
Zhang Jun (; born January 26, 1963) is a Chinese economist and currently serves as Dean of School of Economics at Fudan University in Shanghai. Biography Zhang was born in January 1963 and has ancestral roots in Bozhou, Anhui province. Career Zhang is the founding Director of the China Center for Economic Studies(CCES), a Shanghai-based Think-Tank for modern Chinese economy. He is also a member of special advisory committee to Shanghai Municipal Government. In July 2015, he was one of the three economists selected for face-to-face dialogue with then Premier Li Keqiang in Beijing. Zhang also publishes widely. Chinese Economic Reform
The Chinese economic reform or reform and opening-up (), known in the West as the opening of China, is the program of economic reforms termed " Socialism with Chinese characteristics" and "socialist market economy" in the People's Republic of China (PRC). Led by Deng Xiaoping, often credited as the "General Architect", the reforms were launched by reformists within the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) on December 18, 1978, during the "Boluan Fanzheng" period. The reforms went into stagnation after the military crackdown on 1989 Tiananmen Square protests, but were revived after Deng Xiaoping's Southern Tour in 1992. In 2010, China overtook Japan as the world's second-largest economy by nominal GDP and in 2017 overtook the United States by becoming the world's largest economy by GDP (PPP). Fan Gang (; born in 1953) is one of China's most prominent economists and one of China's most active reform advocates. He is currently based in Beijing, serving as a professor at the Graduate School of Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (CASS) and at the Peking University HSBC Business School, as well as the director of China's National Economic Research Institute (NERI). Justin Yifu Lin
Justin Yifu Lin (; born on October 15, 1952) is a Chinese economist and professor of economics at Peking University. He served as the Chief Economist and Senior Vice President of the World Bank from 2008 to 2012. He has been appointed as China State Council Counsellor since September 2013. As a ground force captain and company commander on Kinmen Islands, Lin swam across a channel and sought refuge in Xiamen, Mainland China in May 1979. Lin turned into an economist after pursuing graduate studies in economics at Peking University and the University of Chicago, where he respectively received a master of economics in 1982 and a PhD degree in 1986. His doctoral advisor at the University of Chicago was Nobel laureate economist Theodore Schultz.
