Zeynep Sönmez
Zeynep Sönmez (born 30 April 2002) is a Turkish professional tennis player. Sönmez has a career-high singles ranking by the Women's Tennis Association (WTA) of 217, achieved on 12 June 2023. She also has a career-high doubles ranking by the WTA of 891, achieved on 12 September 2022. She has won four singles titles on the ITF Women's Circuit. Sönmez competes for Turkey in the Billie Jean King Cup, where she has a win/loss record of 3–1. The Guadalajara Open Akron is a WTA 1000-level professional women's tennis tournament. It takes place on outdoor hardcourts, and was introduced in 2022 to be played in the month of October at the Panamerican Tennis Center in the city of Zapopan, Mexico (Guadalajara metro area). The tournament was introduced due to the suspension of all WTA tournaments in China following the Peng Shuai sexual assault and disappearance controversy.
