Zenobia Revertera
Zenobia Revertera, duchess di Castropignano (19 October 1712- 31 January 1779) was an Italian noble and courtier. She was an influential favorite of the queen of Naples, Maria Amalia of Saxony. Life Zenobia Revertera was born to Nicola Ippolito, duke di Salandra, and Aurelia d'Evoli. In 1735, she married the official and military commander Francesco d'Evoli, duke di Castropignano (1693-1758), who played an important role at court. In 1738, Revertera was appointed to the court of the new queen consort, Maria Amalia of Saxony. She became a personal favorite of the queen, who in turn had great influence over the king, and reportedly used her influence over the queen on several occasions to benefit her spouse and herself financially, as well as the career of her spouse. Septimia Zenobia (Palmyrene Aramaic: , , vocalized as ; AD 240 – c. 274) was a third-century queen of the Palmyrene Empire in Syria. Many legends surround her ancestry; she was probably not a commoner and she married the ruler of the city, Odaenathus. Her husband became king in 260, elevating Palmyra to supreme power in the Near East by defeating the Sassanians and stabilizing the Roman East. After Odaenathus' assassination, Zenobia became the regent of her son Vaballathus and held de facto power throughout his reign. In 270, Zenobia launched an invasion that brought most of the Roman East under her sway and culminated with the annexation of Egypt. By mid-271 her realm extended from Ancyra, central Anatolia, to southern Egypt, although she remained nominally subordinate to Rome. Bernardo Tanucci (20 February 1698 – 29 April 1783) was an Italian statesman, who brought an enlightened absolutism style of government to the Kingdom of the Two Sicilies for Charles III and his son Ferdinand IV. Biography Born of a poor family in Stia, near Arezzo (Tuscany), Tanucci was educated, thanks to a patron, at the University of Pisa. Tanucci was appointed a professor of law there in 1725 and attracted attention by his defence of the authenticity of the '' Codex Pisanus'' of the Pandects of Justinian. When Charles, Duke of Parma, son of Philip V of Spain, who succeeded him as monarch and became Charles III, passed through Tuscany on his way to conquer the Kingdom of Naples, Cosimo III de' Medici, Grand Duke of Tuscany, encouraged him to take Tanucci with him.
