Zenki
is a Japanese manga series written by Kikuhide Tani and illustrated by Yoshihiro Kuroiwa. It was introduced and serialized in the Shueisha publication, '' Monthly Shōnen Jump'' from December 1992 to September 1996. ''Zenki'' was adapted into a fifty-one episode anime television series in 1995 and a single original video animation in 1997 by Studio Deen and also received five video games. Enoki Films handles the English language version of the anime and its distribution rights. Synopsis Long long ago, the great Bodhisattva of Japan, , controlled the Demon Gods to defeat the Demon Goddess Karuma. After Karuma's defeat, he sealed away one of his Demon Gods, , in a pillar until needed again. Centuries later, his direct descendant, a school girl named (or Cherry Night in some dubs) is able to free Zenki, although the fierce demon lord currently has the form of a bratty demon child. En No Gyōja
( b. 634, in Katsuragi (modern Nara Prefecture); d. c. 700–707) was a Japanese ascetic and mystic, traditionally held to be the founder of Shugendō, the path of ascetic training practiced by the ''gyōja'' or '' yamabushi''. He was banished by the Imperial Court to Izu Ōshima on June 26, 699, but folk tales at least as old as the '' Nihon Ryōiki'' (c. 800) recount his supernatural powers and exploits. Junji Nishimura
is a Japanese anime director and producer currently residing in Karatsu, Saga. After graduating from Meiji Gakuin University in 1980, Nishimura entered into the anime studio Nishiko Production. Nishimura had his first job as a producer for '' Baldios'' in 1980, and went on to be in charge of production in other series such as ''Six God Combination Godmars'', and ''Magical Princess Minky Momo'' in 1982. An episode of '' Urusei Yatsura'' he directed in 1982, "After You've Gone" (episode #44), was voted the favorite episode of the TV series by Japanese fans. Monthly Shōnen Jump
was a shōnen manga magazine which was published monthly in Japan by Shueisha from 1970 to 2007 under the ''Jump'' line of magazines. It was the sister magazine to '' Weekly Shōnen Jump''. Kitty Films (キティフィルム ''Kiti Firumu'') was a production company established in 1972 in Japan. History The company was first established in 1972 as Kitty Music Corporation under Hidenori Taga.
