Zenith Camera
A zenith camera is an astrogeodetic telescope used today primarily for the local surveys of Earth's gravity field. The zenith (, ) is an imaginary point directly "above" a particular location, on the celestial sphere. "Above" means in the vertical direction (plumb line) opposite to the gravity direction at that location (nadir). The zenith is the "highest" point on the celestial sphere. Astrometry is a branch of astronomy that involves precise measurements of the positions and movements of stars and other celestial bodies. Zenith Telescope
A zenith telescope is a type of telescope that is designed to point straight up at or near the zenith. They are used for precision measurement of star positions, to simplify telescope construction, or both. A classic zenith telescope, also known as a zenith sector employs a strong altazimuth mount, fitted with levelling screws. Extremely sensitive levels are attached and the telescope has an eyepiece fitted with a micrometer. They are used for the measurement of small differences of zenith distance, and used in the determination of astronomic latitude. Tycho-2
The Tycho-2 Catalogue is an astronomical catalogue of more than 2.5 million of the brightest stars. Catalogue The astrometric reference catalogue contain positions, proper motions, and two-color photometric data for 2,539,913 of the brightest stars in the Milky Way. Components of double stars with separations down to 0.8 arcseconds are included. The catalogue is 99% complete to magnitudes of V~11.0 and 90% complete to V~11.5.
