Zeil
The Zeil () is a street in the city centre of Frankfurt, Germany. The name, which dates back to the 14th century, is derived from the German word ''Zeile'' "row" and originally referred to a row of houses on the eastern end of the north side; the name was not extended to the entire street until later.''Archiv für Frankfurts Geschichte und Kunst'' 5, dritte Folge (1896), p. 350. Since the end of the 19th century it has been one of the most famous and busiest shopping streets in Germany. Before World War II it was also known for its grand buildings, but most of them were destroyed and not rebuilt. The western part of the Zeil is a pedestrian zone between two large plazas, Hauptwache in the west and Konstablerwache in the east. Innenstadt (Frankfurt Am Main)
The Innenstadt (''inner city'') is the central city district of Frankfurt am Main, Germany. It is part of the ''Ortsbezirk Innenstadt I''. Its western part forms part of Frankfurt's central business district, the Bankenviertel. Germany's most expensive shopping streets and real estate are found within the city district. The Innenstadt stretches in the north and east round the district of Altstadt. Other adjacent districts to the west are Bahnhofsviertel, in the north west the Westend, Nordend to the north and Ostend to the east. In the south, the Innenstadt is bordered naturally by the Main on the opposite bank of which stands the Applewine quarter known as Sachsenhausen. Zeilgalerie
Zeilgalerie was a shopping centre located at the Zeil in Frankfurt am Main, Germany. It was opened in September 1992 and was 41 metres tall with 10 floors, one of which was underground. There were approximately 70 stores in the building. History When it first opened in 1992, the Zeilgalerie had only one escalator, which went in an upwards direction. A few years later, a downwards traveling escalator was installed. An IMAX theatre was added on to the roof of the Zeilgalerie in the late 1990s. However, the cinema soon turned bankrupt and the space was converted into a cinema for premieres of films. This succumbed to the same fate and the area remained empty until becoming known as the Astor Film Lounge. The building was owned by Rodamco Europe, a real estate company from The Netherlands. The Palais Quartier (), formerly known as ''FrankfurtHochVier'', is a building complex in the Innenstadt district of Frankfurt, Germany. It was built from 2004 to 2011. Konstablerwache
Konstablerwache is a central square in the centre of Frankfurt am Main and part of its pedestrian zone. It lies to the east of Hauptwache with both squares linked by the Zeil, the central shopping area of the city. History At the corner of the current ''Konstablerwache'' square near the street of Fahrgasse, an armoury was established in 1544 for the defence of Frankfurt; this long represented the eastern end of the Zeil. In 1822 the building, which had been upgraded into a military guard house, was converted into a police station. The Hauptwache (Main Guardroom) is a central point of Frankfurt am Main and is one of the most famous plazas (german: link=no, An der Hauptwache) in the city. Charles VII, Holy Roman Emperor
Charles VII (6 August 1697 – 20 January 1745) was the prince-elector of Bavaria from 1726 and Holy Roman Emperor from 24 January 1742 to his death.
