Ze'ev ( he, זאב \ זְאֵב ''zeév''), also spelled Zeev or Zev, is a name of Hebrew origin which means wolf. The given name is a masculine form used among Ashkenazi Jews. It is a Bible, Biblical name, adapted from a reference to Benjamin in Book of Genesis, Genesis as a "wolf that raveneth". It re-appeared in relatively recent times as a translation of the Yiddish language, Yiddish name װאָלף "Volf" or "Wolf". The name "Wolf" (in German language, German) was relatively common among German people, Germans. The Bible mentions a person directly named Ze'ev, one of the Midianite leaders defeated by the Judge Gideon (see Oreb and Zeeb). Ze'ev Jabotinsky ( he, זְאֵב זַ׳בּוֹטִינְסְקִי, ''Ze'ev Zhabotinski'';, ''Wolf Zhabotinski'' 17 October 1880 – 3 August 1940), born Vladimir Yevgenyevich Zhabotinsky, was a Russian Jewish Revisionist Zionist leader, author, poet, orator, soldier, and founder of the Jewish Self-Defense Organization in Odessa. Ze'ev Aleksandrowicz
Ze'ev (Wilhelm) Aleksandrowicz (Hebrew: 'זאב אלכסנדרוביץ) (April 7, 1905 – January 5, 1992) was an Israeli photographer. He is mostly known for his work in Palestine and Japan, during the first half of the 1930s. Early life Aleksandrowicz was born in Kraków in 1905 to a Jewish family. His father, Sinaj Zygmunt, the owner of a prominent paper wholesale business, was communally and philanthropically active as a member of the city council and one of the leaders of the Jewish community. His mother, Hela Rakower, was a descendant of one of the largest and long-standing Jewish families in Kraków. Ze'ev Bielski ( he, זאב בילסקי, born 13 March 1949) is an Israeli politician who served as a member of the Knesset for Kadima between 2009 and 2013. He previously chaired the Jewish Agency and the World Zionist Organization and worked as a Jewish Agency emissary in South Africa. He also served as the mayor of Ra'anana (served 1989–2005, 2013–2018). Ze’ev Herzog ( he, זאב הרצוג; born 1941) is an Israeli archeologist, professor of archaeology at The Department of Archaeology and Ancient Near Eastern Cultures at Tel Aviv University specializing in social archaeology, ancient architecture and field archaeology. Ze’ev Herzog served as director of The Sonia and Marco Nadler Institute of Archaeology from 2005 to 2010, and has served as archaeological advisor to the Israel Nature and National Parks Protection Authority in the preservation and development of National Parks at Arad and Beer Sheba. Ze'ev Almog
Zeev Almog ( he, זאב אלמוג; also written Ze'ev Almog; born 1 February 1935), was the Commander In Chief (C.I.C.) of the Israeli Navy from 1979 to 1985. He was also General Manager of Israel Shipyards from 1986 to 1995. Early life Almog was born in Tel Aviv, Mandatory Palestine. His parents had emigrated from Poland in 1933. Yaakov Farkash ( he, יעקב פרקש; born 1923, died 15 October 2002), better known by the pen name Ze'ev (Hebrew: ), was an Israeli caricaturist and illustrator. Biography Early life and World War II Farkash was born in Budapest, Kingdom of Hungary (1920–1946), Kingdom of Hungary, in 1923. At an early age Farkash became interested in painting and at the age of 12 drew caricatures which he published in a newspaper he distributed in his neighborhood. Ze'ev Friedman (10 June 1944 – 6 September 1972) was an Israeli flyweight weightlifter. A member of the Israeli Olympic team, he was killed in the 1972 Munich Olympics massacre. Zev Chafets (born 1947) is an American-Israeli author and columnist. Biography Zev Chafets was born in 1947 in Pontiac, Michigan, and raised there. He graduated from the University of Michigan.
