Zdzisława Donat
Zdzisława Donat-Pajda (born 4 July 1936, in Poznań) is a Polish coloratura soprano. She studied in Warsaw and Siena, where she was a pupil of Gino Bechi. In 1964, Donat debuted in Poznań, as Gilda in ''Rigoletto'', and later appeared in many international opera houses, including those in Toulouse, Helsinki, Warsaw, Moscow, Munich, Buenos Aires, Milan (the Teatro alla Scala, where she sang in ''L'enfant et les sortilèges'', 1975), Rome, Prague, Naples, Brussels, Vienna (from 1974 to 1979, in ''Lucia di Lammermoor'' and the Queen of Night in ''Die Zauberflöte''), Salzburg, Berlin, Hamburg, London (the Queen of Night at Covent Garden, from 1979 to 1983), Paris, Verona ("Opera for Africa," 1985), Orange, and Japan. Éric Tappy
Éric Tappy (born 19 May 1931) is a Swiss operatic tenor.Jacques Lonchampt ''L'opéra aujourd'hui; journal de musique'', 1970 p153 "On a découvert un étonnant Zoroastre en Éric Tappy." Tappy was born in Lausanne. He studied with Fernando Carpi at the Geneva Conservatory and with Ernst Reichert in Salzburg. He made his concert debut in Strasbourg in 1959 as the Evangelist in the St. Matthew Passion. He made his American debut as Don Ottavio at the San Francisco Opera in 1974. That same year, the tenor first appeared at Covent Garden, in the name part of ''La clemenza di Tito''. James Levine
James Lawrence Levine (; June 23, 1943 – March 9, 2021) was an American conductor and pianist. He was music director of the Metropolitan Opera from 1976 to 2016. He was terminated from all his positions and affiliations with the Met on March 12, 2018, over sexual misconduct allegations, which he denied. Levine held leadership positions with the Ravinia Festival, the Munich Philharmonic, and the Boston Symphony Orchestra. In 1980 he started the Lindemann Young Artists Development Program, and trained singers, conductors, and musicians for professional careers. After taking an almost two-year health-related hiatus from conducting from 2011 to 2013, during which time he held artistic and administrative planning sessions at the Met, and led training of the Lindemann Young Artists, Levine retired as the Met's full-time Music Director following the 2015–16 season to become Music Director Emeritus. Joseph, Baron Van Damme (born 27 August 1940 in Brussels), known as José van Dam, is a Belgian bass-baritone. At the age of 17, he entered the Brussels Royal Conservatory and studied with Frederic Anspach. A year later, he graduated with diplomas and first prizes in voice and opera performance. He made his opera début as the music teacher Don Basilio in Gioacchino Rossini’s ''Il Barbiere di Siviglia'' at the Paris Opera in 1961, and remained in the company until 1965, when he sang his first major role, Escamillo from Bizet's ''Carmen''. Christian Boesch
Christian Boesch (born 27 July 1941) is an Austrian operatic baritone. He is the son of the soprano Ruthilde Boesch, and studied at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna, from 1959 to 1964. He was the pupil of Alfred Jerger, and made his official debut at the Stadttheater, Bern, in 1966. He joined the Vienna Volksoper in 1975. It was in 1978 when Boesch came to prominence, as Papageno in ''Die Zauberflöte'', at the Salzburg Festival, in Jean-Pierre Ponnelle's production, conducted by James Levine. The next year, the singing-actor made his debut at the Metropolitan Opera, as Papageno. Ileana Cotrubaș (; born 9 June 1939) is a Romanian operatic soprano whose career spanned from the 1960s to the 1980s. She was much admired for her acting skills and facility for singing opera in many different languages. Life and career Cotrubaș was born in Galați. She grew up in a musical family; her father, Vasile, was a tenor in an amateur choir. Cotrubaș' musical career began at the age of nine when she became a member of a children's radio choir. By the age of eleven, she was one of its leading soloists. In 1952, she moved to Bucharest to study at the ''Școala Specială de Muzică'' school for the musically gifted.
