Zauralie Kurgan (Хоккейный клуб «Зауралье» Курган) is an ice hockey team in Kurgan, Kurgan Oblast, Russia. They play in the VHL, the second level of Russian ice hockey. History The club was founded in 1994 as a merger between clubs Mostovik (Bridge Worker) and Turbinka (Turbine) as Mostovik-Turbinka Kurgan later becoming a farm club of Rubin Tyumen. It got its current name Zauralie (Trans-Ural) since the 2003–04 season. They became affiliated with Sibir Novosibirsk of the Kontinental Hockey League in 2008, Avangard Omsk in 2012 and Metallurg Novokuznetsk in 2014. Kurgan, Kurgan Oblast
Kurgan ( rus, Курган, p=kʊrˈgan) is the largest city and the administrative center of Kurgan Oblast in the south of the Urals Federal District of Russia. Population: . Until 1782 Kurgan bore the name ''Tsaryovo Gorodishche''. History An urban settlement was established here between 1659 and 1662 as Tsaryovo Gorodishche (, meaning ''Imperial Citadel'') by Timofey Nevezhin, a farmer from Tyumen. In the ensuing years it was developed as a fortress town. It served as a frontier post and its fortified position enabled it to defend other Russian settlements from nomad attacks. Nevertheless, it was itself not always able to withstand such attacks, and was sometimes plundered and burnt down. Hockey Club Yugra (russian: Хоккейный клуб Югра), is a professional ice hockey team based in Khanty-Mansiysk, Yugra, Russia. They currently play in the Supreme Hockey League, the second-highest league in Russia, and played in the Kontinental Hockey League from 2010 until 2018. Khimik Voskrenensk (russian: Химик Воскресенск, en, Voskresensk Chemists), also known as Moscow Hockey Club Khimik, is an ice hockey team based in Voskresensk, Moscow Oblast, Russia. The team plays its home games in the 4,500 seat Podmoskovie Ice Palace, which was previously known as the Podmoskovie Sports Palace and the Khimik Sports Palace.
