Zaur Mammadov

	Zaur Mammadov Zaur Sabir oghlu Javanshir ( az, Zaur Sabir oğlu Cavanşir) is an Azerbaijani military officer, major general serving in the special forces of the Azerbaijani Armed Forces. He had taken part in the 2016 Nagorno-Karabakh clashes and 2020 Nagorno-Karabakh war, and was one of the commanders of the Azerbaijani special forces during the Battle of Shusha, for which he had received the title of the Hero of the Patriotic War. Early years Zaur Sabir oglu Javanshir was born in Hindarx of the Aghjabadi District in the Azerbaijani SSR, then Soviet Union. He is a descendant of Panah Ali Khan, the founder and first ruler of the Karabakh Khanate who built the Shusha fortress. 	Hero Of The Patriotic War The Hero of the Patriotic War ( az, Vətən Müharibəsi Qəhrəmanı) is the highest title in Azerbaijan. The title was created by the law "Regulations on the title of "Hero of the Patriotic War" of the Republic of Azerbaijan" dated 26 November 2020 and the decree of the President of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev dated 1 December 2020. It was established on the occasion of Azerbaijan being the victor in the Second Nagorno-Karabakh War. Its recipient is also awarded with the Hero of the Patriotic War Medal. The title of Hero of the Patriotic War is conferred by the President of Azerbaijan on his own initiative, or on the proposal of the Ministry of Defence, the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the State Border Service, the State Security Service, and the Foreign Intelligence Service of Azerbaijan. picture info	Shusha Fortress The Shusha fortress ( az, Şuşa qalası) or Shushi fortress ( hy, Շուշիի բերդ) is a fortress surrounding the historical centre of Shusha, also called Shushi. Newly established castle town was called "'' Panahabad fortress''" named after Panah Ali Khan who was the founder of the fort. In later years, the city was just called "''Fortress''". The name of Shusha was probably derived from a nearby Armenian village called Shosh or Shushikent. The area where the Shusha fortress was built is a mountainous plateau in the form of amphitheater from the west with numerous hills and rifts.
