Zatoichi's Revenge
is a 1965 Japanese chambara film directed by Akira Inoue and starring Shintaro Katsu as the blind masseur Zatoichi. It was originally released by the Daiei Motion Picture Company (later acquired by Kadokawa Pictures). ''Zatoichi's Revenge'' is the tenth episode in the 26-part film series devoted to the character of Zatoichi. Plot Zatoichi's travels have finally brought him back to the village where he was trained in the arts of the masseur, nearly ten years ago by his old sensei, Master Hikonoichi. His proximity to his former teacher compels him to pay a visit, only to learn that Hikonoichi was recently killed while traveling, and his daughter Sayo has been sold into prostitution to repay the money lent to her father by local business man Tatsugoro. Akira Inoue(film Director)
was a Japanese film director. Biography He is known for directing many jidaigeki television dramas. In 1950, he joined the Daiei studio and started working as an assistant director. He made his director debut with ''Yureikoban'' in 1960. He directed a lot of jidaigeki television dramas from 1970s to 1980s. In 1993, he directed Lone Wolf and Cub series film '' Lone Wolf and Cub: Final Conflict'', it was for the first time in 23 years he directed in the film. Inoue died from a cerebral infarction and pneumonia on 9 January 2022, at the age of 93. Rōnin
A ''rōnin'' ( ; ja, 浪人, , meaning 'drifter' or 'wanderer') was a samurai without a lord or master during the feudal period of Japan (1185–1868). A samurai became masterless upon the death of his master or after the loss of his master's favor or privilege.Stephane Lun (2021). ''A Guide on Shinsengumi: the background and management.'' In modern Japanese usage, usually the term is used to describe a salaryman who is unemployed or a secondary school graduate who has not yet been admitted to university. Etymology The word ''rōnin'' literally means 'wanderer'. It is an idiomatic expression for 'vagrant' or 'wandering man', someone who finds the way without belonging to one place. The term originated in the Nara and Heian periods, when it referred to a serf who had fled or deserted his master's land. Yoshinobu Nishioka
was a Japanese jidaigeki production designer, art director, producer, and set decorater from Asuka, Nara Prefecture who won three Japan Academy Film Prize for Outstanding Achievement in Art Direction. Nishioka joined Daiei Kyoto film in 1948. His first work as an art director was in the 1952 film ''Tenpo Suikoden''. After the bankruptcy of Daiei film he founded ''Eizo Kyoto production'' with former employees of Daiei film.
