Zamir Jafri
Syed Zamir Jafri (Urdu: سيد ضمير شاه جعفري) (January 1, 1916 – May 12, 1999) was a Pakistani poet, writer, social critic, comedian, columnist, broadcaster and telecaster. He is best known for his work revolved around his Urdu poetry. Biography Zamir Jafri was born in a Syed family. He was the father of former Pakistan Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI), Ehtesham Zamir. His native village, Chak Abdul Khaliq, is located near Dina, in the Jhelum district. Jafri has had great influence on Urdu poetry, and has focused on themes of peace and love for mankind. He had published 78 books of poetry and prose, written in Urdu, Punjabi, and English. Jafri was posted to the Far East where he continued to serve in the Education Corps of Pakistan Army and participated in the Indo-Pakistani wars of 1947–1948 and 1965. Dina, Pakistan
Dina (Punjabi and ur, ), is a city in Jhelum District of Punjab the province of Pakistan. Dina is one of the oldest towns in Punjab. According to the lun in 2017 census, the Dina had a population of 56,885 of which 31.48% were urban. Dina provided many soldiers to the British and later the Pakistan armed forces and is known as ''city of soldiers'' or ''land of martyrs and warriors''. Location Dina is located near Pothohar Plateau, in the north of the Punjab province. It is heart of Jhelum district. The Pakistan Academy of Letters (PAL) ( ur, ) is a national academy with its main focus on Pakistani literature and related fields. It is the largest and the most prestigious learned society of its kind in Pakistan, with activities throughout the nation. It was established in July 1976 by a group of renowned Pakistani writers, poets, essayists, playwrights, and translators, inspired by the Académie Française. Zamir Jaffri Cricket Stadium is a cricket stadium in Jhelum, Pakistan. It is named after Jhelumi poet Syed Zamir Jafri. It was a local district-level stadium, but now the Pakistan Cricket Board has upraised it for regional level events. Six extra cricket pitches have been constructed.
