Zambia competed at the 2022 Commonwealth Games in Birmingham, England between 28 July and 8 August 2022. It was Zambia's fifteenth appearance at the Games. Muzala Samukonga and Margret Tembo were the country's opening ceremony flagbearers. National Olympic Committee Of Zambia
The National Olympic Committee of Zambia (IOC code: ZAM) is the National Olympic Committee representing Zambia. It was created in 1951 as the ''National Olympic Committee of Northern Rhodesia'' and recognised by the IOC in 1963. Zambia made its debut at the 1968 Summer Olympics in Mexico City. Previously, it competed as Northern Rhodesia in 1964 (changing its name on the day of the closing ceremony) and under the banner of Rhodesia in 1960. Since 2010, the Committee, in conjunction with the International Olympic Committee (IOC) and the Government of Zambia have operated an Olympic Youth Development Center (OYDC) in Lusaka, Zambia. The center was opened as a pilot project by the IOC and is open to all youth in the country. Badminton At The 2022 Commonwealth Games
Badminton was one of the sports contested at the 2022 Commonwealth Games, held in Birmingham, England. This was the fifteenth staging of badminton at the Commonwealth Games since its inclusion in 1966, and the second staging within England specifically. The competition took place between 29 July and 8 August 2022, spreaded across six events. Schedule The competition schedule is as follows: Venue The badminton competition was held at the National Exhibition Centre in Solihull. Five other sports – boxing, netball, para powerlifting, table tennis, and weightlifting – also took place there. The original fifth placed finisher in the final, Nzubechi Grace Nwokocha, was provisionally suspended for doping in September 2022 and subsequently disqualified by the Commonwealth Games Federation. Rhoda Njobvu
Rhoda Njobvu (born 29 January 1994) is a Zambian athlete who specializes in sprinting. Athletics career Njobvu gained her first international experience at the 2014 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, where she was eliminated from the 400m with 57.47 seconds in the first round. In 2016, she made it to the semi-finals at the African Championships in Durban in the 200m. At the 2018 African Championships in Asaba, Delta, she again reached the semi-finals, this time in the 100m, in addition, she won the bronze medal in the 4x400m relay, setting a national record in the process with 3.38.18s. In May 2021, she competed at the World Athletics Relays in Chorzów, Poland. She and her colleagues missed the finals after running 44.81 s in the preliminary round in May 2021. In 2021 she posted a personal best at the 100m, which at 11.12 was briefly the leading time in the world, tied with Tiana Wilson before it was beaten by Nzubechi Grace Nwokocha.
