Zakiya Bywaters
Zakiya Abeni Bywaters (born July 24, 1991) is an American soccer player who last played as a forward and midfielder for Chicago Red Stars of the National Women's Soccer League. Bywaters is a United States U-23 international. A former star player for the UCLA Bruins, Bywaters was the number one pick of the 2013 NWSL College Draft by the Chicago Red Stars in January 2013. Early life Born and raised in Las Vegas, Nevada to Thomas and Beverly Bywaters, Zakiya attended Rancho High School and played club soccer for the Southern California Blues and Slammers FC. In 2007 and 2008, she was named a NSCAA/adidas Girls Youth All-American. During her senior year in 2009, she was listed as a four-star recruit (21st overall) by Top Drawer Soccer as well as an ESPN RISE Top 50 Recruit (17th overall). Chicago Red Stars
The Chicago Red Stars are a professional women's soccer club based in Bridgeview, Illinois, a suburb of Chicago. A founding member of the Women's Professional Soccer (WPS) league, they have played in the National Women's Soccer League (NWSL) since 2013. WPS was the NWSL's predecessor as the professional women's soccer league in the United States, and the Red Stars played in the WPS in 2009 and 2010. After leaving the WPS in December 2010 due to the league's financial issues, the club joined the Women's Premier Soccer League (WPSL) for the 2011 season. Rancho High School
Rancho High School is a zoned, and magnet high school in North Las Vegas, Nevada. It is part of the Clark County School District. Opened in 1953, Rancho High School was the third public high school founded in the Las Vegas Valley, after Las Vegas High School (1905) and Basic High School (1942). 2015 Chicago Red Stars Season
The 2015 Chicago Red Stars season is the seventh season of the soccer club and its third season in National Women's Soccer League. For the first time in NWSL the Red Stars advanced to the playoffs by finishing second in regular season. In addition, the team held the first place for ten consecutive weeks, from week 4 to week 13. The 2013 Chicago Red Stars season is the fifth season of the soccer club and its first season in National Women's Soccer League. Major events In November 2012, it was announced that there would be eight teams in a new women's professional soccer league, the National Women's Soccer League will be subsidized by the USSF, the Canadian Soccer Association (CSA) and the Mexican Football Federation (FMF). The three federations would pay the salaries of their national team players (24 from the US, 16 from Canada, and 12 from Mexico) to aid the teams in creating world-class rosters while staying under the salary cap. Rory Dames
Rory Dames Jr. (born February 10, 1973) is an American soccer coach who most recently was the head coach of the Chicago Red Stars in the National Women's Soccer League (NWSL). He is the owner and former president of Chicago Eclipse Select, a youth soccer club in suburban Chicago. In 2023 Dames was banned for life from the NWSL because of misconduct concerning players in his charge. Early life Dames was born and raised in Chicago, Illinois. He played soccer at St. Viator High School in the suburb of Arlington Heights, where he graduated in 1991. He attended Saint Louis University and played for the men's soccer team. In four seasons, Dames made 52 appearances as a defender, scoring one goal and recording 3 assists. Dames then joined the Rockford Raptors for one professional season.
