Zafar Iqbal (actor)
Zafar Iqbal (born 25 September 1950 or 25 April 1950 – died 6 January 1991 or 1992) was a Bangladeshi actor, singer and freedom fighter. He acted in 150 films. Singer Shahnaz Rahmatullah and music composer Anwar Parvez were his siblings. Background Iqbal learned to play guitar in the 1970s. He formed his own band ''Rambling Stone'' in 1966 with two of his friends named Mukit & Akash. The band used to perform regularly at the hotel InterContinental Dhaka. Music director Robin Ghosh hired him as a session guitarist for his upcoming film ''Pitch Dhala Poth''. During one of those shows, director Khan Ataur Rahman met Iqbal and offered him work as an actor in a lead role for the film ''Apan Por ''. Career After the Bangladesh Liberation War, Iqbal started acting regularly from the mid-1970s. Zafar Iqbal (field Hockey)
Zafar Iqbal (born 12 June 1956) is a former Indian field hockey player and captain of the India national team. Early life Zafar Iqbal was born on 12 June 1956 to Mohammed Shahabuddin Ahmed, a professor in the Aligarh Muslim University (AMU), and Najmun Nisha, as the third of their five children. He was born in Hargawan, a village in Bihar Sharif, in the Indian State of Bihar. His family moved to Aligarh, Uttar Pradesh where he was brought up. Iqbal started out playing football as child, before taking to hockey in 1969–70 encouraged by his father's colleague and hockey enthusiast, Professor Khan. He was mentored by Swami Jagan Nath, hockey coach of the AMU during that time and manager of India national team during the 1936 Berlin Olympics. Alongside hockey, Iqbal pursued a degree in civil engineering from AMU graduating in 1978 securing 74 per cent marks. According to the United States Department of Defense, there were five dozen Pakistani detainees in Guantanamo prior to May 15, 2006. The Guantanamo Bay detention camp was opened on January 11, 2002. In the summer of 2004, following the United States Supreme Court's ruling in '' Rasul v. Bush,'' the Department of Defense stopped transferring men and boys to Guantanamo. Zafar Iqbal (; born 27 September 1930) is an Urdu poet based in Okara, Punjab, Pakistan. Early life and career Zafar Iqbal was born in Bahawalnagar, Punjab where his maternal grandparents lived. Then he received his basic early education in Okara, Punjab which is his hometown and later moved to Lahore for his college education. His poetry is mainly in the genre of ghazal. The diction of his ghazal is entirely different from traditional Urdu poetry. He is a lawyer by profession, and regularly contributes articles to some Urdu newspapers. In contrast to classical Poets, Zafar's poetry portrays ''love'' as scientific and physical rather than supernatural. Dr Tabassam Kaashmiri called him ''Literature's renegade'' of the 20th century.
