Karl Eduard Zachariae
Karl Eduard Zachariae von Lingenthal (December 24, 1812 – June 3, 1894) was an eminent German jurist and the son of Karl Salomo Zachariae von Lingenthal. Life He studied philosophy, history, mathematics and linguistics, as well as jurisprudence, at Leipzig, Berlin and Heidelberg. Having made Roman and Byzantine law his special study, he visited Paris in 1832 to examine Byzantine MSS., went in 1834 to Saint Petersburg and Copenhagen for the same purpose, and in 1835 worked in the libraries of Brussels, London, Oxford, Dublin, Edinburgh and Cambridge. Patrick Paul Zachry (born April 24, 1952) is a former professional baseball pitcher. He pitched in Major League Baseball from to , and is likely best remembered as one of the players the Cincinnati Reds sent to the New York Mets in the infamous "Midnight Massacre". Early years Zachry was drafted by the Cincinnati Reds in the nineteenth round of the 1970 Major League Baseball draft. In six seasons in their farm system, he compiled a 54-42 record, even 3.00 earned run average and 619 strikeouts. While a member of the Tampa Tarpons (1957–1988), Tampa Tarpons in , Zachry received notice of his military draft eligibility for the nation's on-going engagement in Vietnam, however, he failed the U.S. Army's physical examination. James Zachery
James Zachery (August 27, 1958 – January 25, 1994) was an American football defensive lineman who played eight seasons in the Canadian Football League (CFL) with the Montreal Alouettes, Montreal Concordes and Edmonton Eskimos. He was drafted by the New York Jets in the eleventh round of the 1980 NFL Draft. He played college football at Texas A&M University and attended Midland High School in Midland, Texas. Zachery was a member of the Edmonton Eskimos team that won the 75th Grey Cup. He was also a CFL West All-Star in 1986. Zachery died on January 25, 1994, after he was the victim of a gang attack. 17-year-old De-Vann Stewart was initially charged with Zachary's murder. Stewart was later sentenced to 20 years on a manslaughter conviction and a second defendant, Don Jackson, was convicted of aggravated assault and sentenced to 50 years in prison. Jonathan Thompson Walton Zachary (c. May 7, 1896 – January 24, 1969) was a professional baseball pitcher. Career Zachary had a 19-year career in Major League Baseball that lasted from 1918 to 1936. He played for the Philadelphia A's, Washington Senators, St. Louis Browns, New York Yankees of the American League and the Boston Braves, Brooklyn Dodgers and Philadelphia Phillies of the National League. Zachary is well known for giving up Babe Ruth's record-setting 60th home run in 1927. Then the next year, pitching for Ruth's team, the New York Yankees, he won the third game of the World Series, defeating the St. Louis Cardinals. Zachary went 12–0 for the 1929 Yankees, which is still the major league record for most pitching wins without a loss in one season. Thomas Michael Zacharias (born 2 January 1947) is a German high jumper. He competed in the 1968 Olympics and finished in 14th place with a jump of 2.09 m. He set five national records (2.17 to 2.20 in 1970). His personal best is 2.22 m (world's best indoor 1971). Zacharias continues competing internationally, in the masters categories, where he set dozens of world records.
