Municipalities Of Qatar
Since 2015, Qatar has been divided into eight municipalities. In 2004, a new municipality, Al Daayen, was created under Resolution No. 13, formed from parts of Umm Salal and Al Khawr; at the same time, Al Ghuwariyah was merged with Al Khawr; Al Jumaliyah was merged with Ar Rayyan; Jarayan al Batnah was split between Al Rayyan and Al Wakrah; and Mesaieed was merged with Al Wakrah. In 2014, the western city of Al-Shahaniya split off from Al Rayyan Municipality to form its own municipality. Al Daayen
Al Daayen ( Wehr: ]; also spelled as [; Wehr: ]) is a Municipalities of Qatar, municipality in the state of Qatar. Most of the urban landscape can be found in the southern zone of the municipality, particularly in the city of Lusail, while the northern and central sections are primarily rural. It is one of the fastest growing municipalities in Qatar due to its close proximity to the capital Doha. Umm Qarn hosts the municipal office and serves as the municipality's administrative seat. Etymology Al Daayen Municipality is named after the village of the same name, which derives its name from the Arabic word "dhaayen", which roughly translates to "travel". Zones Of Qatar
In the administrative divisions of Qatar, zones are the second-highest level of government after municipalities of Qatar, municipalities. As of the 2015 census, there were 98 zones. However, several of these zones are not currently in use. Over the years, numerous changes in zones have taken place. For instance, in the 2010 census, Zone 69 was transferred to Al Daayen Municipality, Zones 50 and 58 were added to Ad-Dawhah (municipality), Ad-Dawhah Municipality, and part of Zone 74 was merged with Zone 70 of Al Daayen Municipality. Qatar
Qatar (, ; ar, قطر, Qaṭar ; local vernacular pronunciation: ), officially the State of Qatar,) is a country in Western Asia. Al Egla ( ar, العقلة) is a district with portions in the municipality of Al Daayen and the municipality of Doha in Qatar. It adjoins the area of the planned city of Lusail. Rather than traditional neighborhoods, Al Egla consists of two large gated compounds: Qipco Compound and Golf Gardens. Al Kharayej
Al Kharayej ( ar, الخرايج, Al Kharā’ij) is a district in Qatar, geographically located in the municipality of Al Daayen but also included in the census as a district of Ad-Dawhah. After a cabinet resolution was passed in 2002, Al Kharayej became the one of three settlements in Qatar where foreigners could own real estate. It is a part of Lusail city. Etymology Traditionally an agricultural settlement, Al Kharayej is named after a local saline spring, with "kharayej" being an Arabic term for saline spring. Many salt-tolerant forages grow around this spring, thus it was a popular grazing area for nomadic herdsman. Jabal Thuaileb
Jabal Thuaileb ( ar, جبل ثعيلب, Jabal Thu‘aylib, Fox Hills) is a district in Qatar, located in the municipality of Al Daayen. It is also a census-designated district of Ad-Dawhah. It is closely situated to Lusail. After a cabinet resolution was passed in 2002, Jabal Thuaileb became the one of three districts in Qatar where foreigners could own real estate. Etymology The "jabal" portion of the district's name means "hill" or "mountain" or in Arabic. "Thuaileb" is derived from the Arabic word "thaalab", which translates to "fox" in English. It was so named due to the presence of a prominent hill and the habitation of foxes in the area. Lusail
Lusail ( ar, لوسيل, , ) is the second-largest city in Qatar, located on the coast, in the southern part of the municipality of Al Daayen. Lusail is located about north of the city centre of Doha, just north of the West Bay Lagoon, on over and will eventually have the infrastructure to accommodate 450,000 people. Of these 450,000 people, it is estimated that 250,000 or fewer will be residents, 190,000 will be office workers and 60,000 will be retail workers. It is planned to have marinas, residential areas, island resorts, commercial districts, luxury shopping and leisure facilities, and a golf course community, man made islands and several entertainment districts. Wadi Al Banat
Wadi Al Banat ( ar, وادي البنات, Wādī al Banāt) is a district in Qatar, geographically located in the municipality of Al Daayen but also a census-designated district of Ad-Dawhah. It is situated near the borders with Doha Municipality and Umm Salal Municipality. Etymology Wadi Al Banat's name means "valley of the girls" in Arabic, and was thought to have been named that because it was a popular play area for young girls. Al Aaliya Island
Al Aaliya Island ( ar, جزيرة العالية, Jazīrat ‘Alya) is an island located off the coast of the municipality of Al Daayen in Qatar, north of The Pearl. It is a small, low-lying island, of a brown colour, with a little peak at its east end, lying 3½ miles north of Al Safliya Island; it is visible 6 or 7 miles.
