The zander (''Sander lucioperca''), sander or pikeperch, is a species of ray-finned fish from the family Percidae, which includes the perches, ruffes and darters. It is found in freshwater and brackish habitats in western Eurasia. It is a popular game fish and has been introduced to a variety of localities outside its native range. It is the type species of the genus ''Sander''. Taxonomy The zander was first formally described in 1758 as ''Perca lucioperca'' by Carolus Linnaeus in volume 1 of the tenth edition of ''Systema Naturae'' and he gave the type locality as "European lakes". When Lorenz Oken (1779-1851) created the genus ''Sander'' he made ''Perca lucioperca'' its type species. The zander is part of the European clade within the genus ''Sander'' which split from a common ancestor with the North American clade, which the walleye (''S. vitreus'') and the sauger (''S. canadensis'') belong to, around 20.8 million years ago. Richard Zander (born March 3, 1964) is a German former competitive figure skater. He is a two-time German national champion. Zander was born in Portland, Oregon, United States to German parents. In 1980, he moved to Germany to focus on figure skating training. He became German champion in 1987 and 1989. His coach was Karin Doherty. Zander Sherman
Zander Sherman is a Canadian author and journalist. Early life and education Sherman is the great-grandson of Frank A. Sherman, cofounder of Dofasco, a steel company in Hamilton, Ontario. Sherman grew up in Muskoka, where he was homeschooled by his mother, whom he credits with his interest in writing. Career Sherman's career began after graduating Bracebridge and Muskoka Lakes Secondary School, when he got a job as a copyeditor at a local magazine. Interested in the history of school, he eventually left to write a book. ''The Curiosity of School: Education and the Dark Side of Enlightenment'' was published by Penguin Random House in 2012, and debuted on the national bestseller list. Sherman then turned to other stories. In 2014, he began investigating the disappearance of Joan Lawrence, an elderly woman from Huntsville, Ontario, who went missing under suspicious circumstances. Zander Schloss (born August 7, 1961) is an American musician, actor and composer. He is known as bass player for the Circle Jerks, the Weirdos, his many collaborations with Joe Strummer musically and in film and for his contributions to independent feature films. Zander Horvath
Alexander John Horvath (born December 10, 1998) is an American football fullback who is a free agent. He played college football at Purdue. Early years Zander went to Mishawaka Catholic for elementary and middle school, where he played football and graduated from in 2013. Horvath then also played football at Marian High School in Mishawaka, Indiana. He recorded 3,373 yards and 50 touchdowns on the ground, earning all-state and ''USA Today'' Midwest Regional All-American honors. College career Horvath initially committed to Indiana to play linebacker as a preferred walk-on, but switched commitments when Purdue running backs coach Chris Barclay offered him a chance to play his natural position of running back. Zander Hollander
Zander Hollander (March 24, 1923 – April 11, 2014) was an American sportswriter, journalist, editor and archivist. Many years before the internet and unfinished cable television system emerged, Hollander served as a prolific supplier of encyclopedias on every major sport. At this point, he edited, wrote or packaged around 300 books over a professional career that spanned 45 years. Born as Alexander Hollander in Brooklyn, New York, he grew up in Far Rockaway, Queens. At age 14, he found his emerging sports ability writing columns for a neighborhood newspaper, and then in high school, he wrote for the ''Long Island Daily Press'' and the ''New York World-Telegram''. Zander de Bruyn (born 5 July 1975) is a former South African cricketer. He was a right-handed batsman and a right-arm medium-fast bowler. He played three Test matches for South Africa, and played domestic cricket for the Highveld Lions. Wilhelm Zander
Wilhelm Zander (22 April 1911 – 27 September 1974) was an adjutant to Martin Bormann during World War II. He died in Munich in 1974. Biography He was born in Saarbrücken. Although he received only minimal education, Zander built up business interests in Italy. He abandoned these interests to take up a full-time post as a Nazi Party worker. In 1933, he joined the ''Schutzstaffel'' (SS) and later achieved the rank of SS-'' Standartenführer''. Walter Zander
Walter Zander (8 June 1898, Erfurt – 7 April 1993, South Croydon) was a German-British lawyer, scholar and writer. He was Secretary of the British Friends of the Hebrew University in Jerusalem 1944-71, Governor of the University 1972-93, Senior Associate Fellow at St Antony's College, Oxford 1971-88, and author of several books and articles, many of them about Israel and its international relations. The son of a prominent Erfurt lawyer, he studied at the Gymnasium, before being called up for military service in 1916. Udo Zander (born March 30, 1959) is a Swedish organizational theorist, and Professor in Business Administration at the Stockholm School of Economics until 2012. He is particularly known for his work with Bruce Kogut on knowledge-based theory of the firm.
