Leo the Lion is the mascot for the Cinema of the United States, Hollywood film studio Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer and one of its predecessors, Goldwyn Pictures, featured in the studio's production logo, which was created by the Paramount Pictures, Paramount Studios art director Lionel S. Ronald Pierce Ely (born June 21, 1938) is an American actor and novelist born in Hereford, Texas, and raised in Amarillo. Ely is best known for having portrayed Tarzan in the 1966–1968 NBC series ''Tarzan'' and for playing the lead role in the film '' Doc Savage: The Man of Bronze'' (1975). He hosted the ''Miss America'' pageant telecast in 1980 and 1981. Actor Ely won the role of Tarzan in 1966 after playing supporting roles in films such as '' South Pacific'' (1958), as an airplane navigator, ''The Fiend Who Walked the West'' (1958) and '' The Remarkable Mr. Pennypacker'' (1959). Zamba Zembola (born c. 1780) is the supposed author of an 1847 slave narrative, ''The Life and Adventures of Zamba, an African Negro King; and his Experience of Slavery in South Carolina'', which describes his kidnapping and 40 years of labor as a slave on a plantation in the U.S. state of South Carolina. The work was edited by Peter Neilson, a Scottish abolitionist. Some scholars believe the book is not a genuine slave narrative, but is fiction written by Neilson.
