''Revenge of the Snakes'' or (Turkish language: ''Yılanların öcü'') is a 1962 Turkish realist drama film directed by Metin Erksan and based on a novel by Fakir Baykurt. The film covered issues of an unwanted pregnancy in a small farming village and addressed numerous moral and social issues. The film was remade in 1985. Metin Erksan
İsmail Metin Erksan (1 January 1929 – 4 August 2012) was a Turkish people, Turkish film director and art historian. Biography Erksan was born in Çanakkale. Following his graduation from Pertevniyal High School in Istanbul, he studied art history at Istanbul University. Starting in 1947, he wrote in various newspapers and magazines on cinema. In 1952, he debuted in directing with the films ''Karanlık Dünya'' and ''Aşık Veysel’in Hayatı'' written by Bedri Rahmi Eyüboğlu. He directed two documentary films in 1954 with the title ''Büyük Menderes Vadisi''. Metin Erksan gained success with films depicting the problems of people from the countryside he adopted from the literature. ''Susuz Yaz'' won the Golden Bear Award in Berlin, Germany. ''Yılanların Öcü'' (1962) was awarded in 1966 at the Carthage Film Festival in Tunisia. Aliye Rona
Aliye Rona (née Dilligil; 14 October 1921 – 27 August 1996) was a Turkish film actress starring in more than 130 movies, mostly of drama and romance genre, from 1947 until her death. She was born in Daraa, French Mandate for Syria and the Lebanon (today southwestern Syria). After acting in theater, she transferred to cinema in 1947. Aliye Rona, who was sister of Avni Dilligil, actor, screenwriter and film director, and had a marriage with the actor Zihni Rona, died on 29 August 1996 in Istanbul.
