Yvette Bissonnet
Yvette Bissonnet is a politician in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. She was a member of the Montreal city council from 2001 to 2009, serving as a member of the Montreal Island Citizens Union (MICU; renamed Union Montreal in 2007). She had previously served on the Saint-Leonard council before that city's amalgamation into Montreal. Bissonnet is married to Michel Bissonnet, a former Liberal member of the National Assembly of Quebec and the current borough mayor of Saint-Leonard. She worked as an administrative secretary before seeking public office. Early political career Bissonnet was first elected to the Saint-Leonard council in the 1986 municipal election, winning a narrow victory in the city's seventh ward as a member of mayor Raymond Renaud's Ralliement de Saint-Léonard (RdSL). 1990 Saint-Leonard Municipal Election
The 1990 Montreal municipal election took place on November 4, 1990, to elect a mayor and city councillors in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. Jean Doré was elected to a second term as mayor by a significant margin. All mayoral candidates were also permitted to run for seats on council in tandem with "co-listed candidates." In this way, all unsuccessful mayoral candidates could serve on council by assuming the seat of their co-lister (provided, of course, that the co-lister was elected). Elections were also held in Montreal's suburban communities. Gérald Tremblay
Gérald Tremblay (born September 20, 1942) is a former Canadian politician and businessman who served as mayor of Montreal from 2002 until his resignation in 2012. He also served as president of the Montreal Metropolitan Community. Before becoming mayor he had a long career in business and management. Tremblay resigned as Mayor on November 5, 2012 following allegations of corruption made at the Charbonneau Commission. Early life and career Born in Ottawa, Ontario, Tremblay grew up in Montreal, where his family moved when he was four years old. His parents, Georges Albert Tremblay, a notary, and Rollande Forest, had four boys: Michel, Gérald, Marcel, and François. The 2001 Montreal municipal election took place on November 4, 2001, to elect a mayor and city councillors in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. Gérald Tremblay defeated incumbent Pierre Bourque to become mayor of the newly amalgamated city. This was the only municipal election that was held for the amalgamated city (the amalgamation took effect on January 1, 2002), as the next municipal election was for the defused city.
