Yuri Vladimirovich Dolgorukov
Prince Prince Yuri Dolgorukov (russian: Князь Юрий Долгуроков; November 2 (13) 1740 - 8 (20) November 1830) was a Russian general in chief and military governor of Moscow from May to November 1797, as well as the author of a set of military memoirs. Life He was the son of the future governor of Riga prince Vladimir Petrovich (1699-1761) and Elena Vasilievna, née Princess Hilkova (died 1763). He entered military service in 1749 and fought in the Seven Years' War from 1756 to 1763, being wounded twice. He then fought in the Russo-Turkish War (1768-1774) and the Russo-Turkish War (1787-1792), serving at the battles of Gross-Jegersdorf, Cesme and Ochakov among others. Catherine II of Russia put him in command of a detachment sent in 1763 to support Stanisław August Poniatowski, a candidate for the throne of Poland. The House of Dolgorukov () is a princely Russian family of Rurikid stock. They are a cadet branch of the Obolenskiy family (until 1494 the rulers of Obolensk, one of the Upper Oka Principalities) and as such claiming patrilineal descent from Mikhail of Chernigov (d. 1246). The founder of the Dolgorukov branch of the Obolenskiy is Prince Ivan Andreevich Oblenskiy (15th century), who for his vengefulness was given the nickname of Долгорукий ''Dolgorukiy'', i.e. "far-reaching". Prince Platon Alexandrovich Zubov (russian: Платон Александрович Зубов; ) was the last of Catherine the Great's favourites and the most powerful man in the Russian Empire during the last years of her reign. Life The prince was a member of the Zubov family and had several siblings, including Nikolay, Valerian, and Olga Zherebtsova. It was through his distant relative, Russian Field Marshal Nicholas Saltykov, that he met the Empress. Saltykov presented the young officer at court on the understanding that Zubov would then help Saltykov in his feud with Catherine's long-standing favourite, Prince Potemkin. Šćepan Mali ( sr-cyr, Шћепан Мали ), translated as Stephen the Little, Stephen the Small or Stephen the Humble, ( – 22 September 1773) was the first and only "tsar" of Montenegro, ruling the country as an absolute monarch from 1768 until his death. Of unclear origins, Šćepan became the ruler of Montenegro through a rumour that he was in fact the deposed Russian emperor Peter III, who had died several years before Šćepan surfaced in the Balkans.
