Yuni (film)
''Yuni'' is an internationally co-produced drama film, written and directed by Kamila Andini. It stars Arawinda Kirana in the titular role. The film had its world premiere at the 2021 Toronto International Film Festival in September 2021, where it was named the winner of the Platform Prize competition. It was selected as the Indonesian entry for the Best International Feature Film at the 94th Academy Awards. Plot Yuni, a bright high school student, wants to attend university. She gains notoriety as she rejects a proposal by a man she barely knows. She rejects a second proposal, triggering concern relating to the local belief that if two proposals are rejected, a person will never marry. Kamila Andini
Kamila Andini (born 6 May 1986) is an Indonesian film director known for her critically acclaimed debut ''The Mirror Never Lies''. Biography Andini was born on 6 May 1986 and is the eldest daughter of filmmaker Garin Nugroho. Although uninterested in cinematography for fear that she would be "work ngin her father's shadow", she began studying photography while still in junior high school, hoping to "capture people's life and behavior". While in senior high school her classmates often asked her father about film making, questions which Andini later said "ashamed" her because she knew nothing of her father's oeuvre. She later began to become involved with several film committees. Andini completed a degree in sociology at Deakin University in Melbourne, Australia. The 41st Indonesian Film Festival ceremony, presented by Indonesian Film Board and Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology, honored the achievement in Indonesian cinema released from 1 October 2020 to 31 August 2021.
