Yung Krall
Yung Krall ( vi, Đặng Mỹ Dung; born 1946) is an American former spy born in Vietnam. Her autobiography, ''A Thousand Tears Falling'', recounts her life growing up in the midst of the Vietnam War, as well as her life in America as a spy for the CIA, FBI, and NSA. She is the mother of actor and comedian Lance Krall. Biography Yung Krall was born Đặng Mỹ Dung in 1946 near Cần Thơ in Vietnam during the French administration of the Indochine colony, and lived there during the Anti-French Resistance War. She was nine years old at the signing of the Geneva Conference, which divided Vietnam into North and South Vietnam. Yung's mother chose to remain in South Vietnam to raise her children while her husband joined the Communist cause in the North with the NLF, eventually becoming Hanoi's ambassador to the U.S.S.R. Hanoi
Hanoi or Ha Noi ( or ; vi, Hà Nội ) is the capital and second-largest city of Vietnam. It covers an area of . It consists of 12 urban districts, one district-leveled town and 17 rural districts. North Vietnam, officially the Democratic Republic of Vietnam (DRV; vi, Việt Nam Dân chủ Cộng hòa), was a socialist state supported by the Soviet Union (USSR) and the People's Republic of China (PRC) in Southeast Asia that existed from 1945 to 1976 and was recognized in 1954. South Vietnam
South Vietnam, officially the Republic of Vietnam ( vi, Việt Nam Cộng hòa), was a state in Southeast Asia that existed from 1955 to 1975, the period when the southern portion of Vietnam was a member of the Western Bloc during part of the Cold War after the 1954 division of Vietnam. It first received international recognition in 1949 as the State of Vietnam within the French Union, with its capital at Saigon (renamed to Ho Chi Minh City in 1976), before becoming a republic in 1955. Lance Krall
Lance Krall (born December 9, 1970) is an American producer, screenwriter, and actor of half Vietnamese descent. He became well known after his portrayal as "Kip" in the role in faux-reality show ''The Joe Schmo Show''. He went on to create and star in ''The Lance Krall Show'' and '' Free Radio.'' He is also the co-founder of Picture It Productions, a television development and production company based in Atlanta. Background Krall was born in Monterey, California. Because his father, John Krall, was a Naval aviator, and his mother, Vietnamese-born Yung Krall, was a spy for the CIA, Lance spent most of his life moving from country to country and state to state. The Geneva Conference, intended to settle outstanding issues resulting from the Korean War and the First Indochina War, was a conference involving several nations that took place in Geneva, Switzerland, from 26 April to 20 July 1954. The part of the conference on the Korean question ended without adopting any declarations or proposals, so is generally considered less relevant. The Geneva Accords that dealt with the dismantling of French Indochina proved to have long-lasting repercussions, however. First Indochina War
The First Indochina War (generally known as the Indochina War in France, and as the Anti-French Resistance War in Vietnam) began in French Indochina from 19 December 1946 to 20 July 1954 between France and Việt Minh (Democratic Republic of Vietnam), and their respective allies. Việt Minh was led by Võ Nguyên Giáp and Hồ Chí Minh. Most of the fighting took place in Tonkin in Northern Vietnam, although the conflict engulfed the entire country and also extended into the neighboring French Indochina protectorates of Laos and Cambodia.
