Yuliyan Mikhaylov Strogov ( bg, Юлиян Михайлов Строгов; born March 28, 1972) is a boxer from Bulgaria. He was born in Dobrich. At the 1992 Summer Olympics he was stopped in the second round of the Men's Flyweight (51 kg) division by eventual bronze medalist Timothy Austin of the United States. At the 1996 Summer Olympics in the Men's Flyweight division, he was stopped in the first round by Ireland's Damaen Kelly. Damaen Kelly (born 3 April 1973) (also incorrectly known as ''Damien Kelly'') is a British former professional boxer from Belfast, Northern Ireland, who competed from 1997 to 2006. He held the IBO flyweight title from 2000 to 2001 and the IBO super-flyweight title in 2004, and once challenged for the IBF flyweight title in 2003. World Amateur Boxing Championships
The IBA World Boxing Championships, and the IBA Women's World Boxing Championships (previously known as AIBA), are biennial amateur boxing competitions organised by the International Boxing Association (IBA), which is the sport governing body. Alongside the Olympic boxing programme, they are the highest level of competition for the sport. Boxing at the 1996 Summer Olympics took place in the Alexander Memorial Coliseum in Atlanta. The boxing schedule began on 20 July and ended on 4 August. Twelve boxing events were contested, with the participation of 355 athletes from 97 countries. There was significant controversy surrounding the judging of the fight between Floyd Mayweather of the U.S. and Serafim Todorov of Bulgaria, with Todorov being awarded the semi-final bout win which, according to many observers, was won by Mayweather.
