Yuko Hasegawa (curator)
Yuko Hasegawa (長谷川祐子, ''Hasegawa Yuko'', born 1957) is the director of the 21st Century Museum of Contemporary Art, Kanazawa and professor of curatorial and art theory at Tokyo University of the Arts. Early life and education Hasegawa was born in Hyogo Prefecture, Japan and graduated from Kyoto University with a Bachelor of Arts in law, and from Tokyo University of the Arts with an Master of Fine Arts in art history. Career Hasegawa's past positions include and Chief Curator of the Museum of Contemporary Art Tokyo, Museum of Contemporary Art, Tokyo from 2006 to 2020 and Chief Curator and Founding Artistic Director of the 21st Century Museum of Contemporary Art, Kanazawa from 1999 to 2006. Hôtel Salomon De Rothschild
Hôtel Salomon de Rothschild is a ''hôtel particulier'' located at 11 rue Berryer in the 8th arrondissement in Paris, France. It is a former residence of (1843–1922), the widow of Salomon James de Rothschild of the Rothschild banking family of France. Designed by Leon Ohnet and constructed between 1872 and 1878, it is located in the heart of Paris, near the Rue du Faubourg Saint-Honoré. On her death in 1922, the Jewish Adèle von Rothschild bequeathed the property to the French government fine arts administration rather than to her only child, Hélène de Rothschild, whom she had disinherited for marrying a Roman Catholic. The hotel was the site of a presidential assassination on 6 May 1932. French President Paul Doumer was at a book fair in the hotel when a mentally unstable Russian émigré, Paul Gorguloff, opened fire at him. Doumer died the following morning. Istanbul Biennale
The Istanbul Biennial is a contemporary art exhibition that has been held biennially in Istanbul, Turkey, since 1987. The Biennial has been organised by the Istanbul Foundation for Culture and Arts (IKSV) since its inception. Format Istanbul Biennial adheres to an exhibition model in which the curator, appointed by an international advisory board, develops a conceptual framework according to which a variety of artists and projects are invited to the exhibition. Nasher Sculpture Center
Opened in 2003, the Nasher Sculpture Center is a museum in Dallas, Texas, that houses the Patsy and Raymond Nasher collection of modern and contemporary sculpture. It is located on a site adjacent to the Dallas Museum of Art in the Dallas Arts District. Founding Patsy and Raymond Nasher began collecting sculpture in the 1950s. Otobong Nkanga
Otobong Nkanga (born 1974) is a Nigerian-born visual artist and performance artist, based in Antwerp, Belgium. In 2015 she won the Yanghyun Prize. In her work she explores the social and topographical changes of her environment, observes their inherent complexities and understands how resources such as soil and earth, and their potential values, are subject to regional and cultural analysis. Senga Nengudi
Senga Nengudi (née Sue Irons; born September 18, 1943) is an African-American visual artist and curator. She is best known for her abstract sculptures that combine found objects and choreographed performance. She is part of a group of African-American avant-garde artists working in New York City and Los Angeles, from the 1960s and onward. Nengudi was named the 2023 Nasher Prize Laureate for her contribution to the discipline of sculpture. Early life and education Nengudi was born Sue Irons in Chicago, Illinois in 1943. Doris Salcedo (b. 1958) is a Colombian-born visual artist and sculpture, sculptor."Doris Salcedo" Art 21, Retrieved 15 November 2018. Her work is influenced by her experiences of life in Colombia and is generally composed of commonplace items such as wooden furniture, clothing, concrete, grass, and rose petals.
