Yug (river)
The Yug (russian: Юг) is a river in Kichmengsko-Gorodetsky District, Kichmengsko-Gorodetsky, Nikolsky District, Vologda Oblast, Nikolsky, and Velikoustyugsky Districts of Vologda Oblast and in Podosinovsky District of Kirov Oblast in Russia. It is long, and the area of its basin is . The Yug joins the Sukhona near the town of Veliky Ustyug, forming the Northern Dvina, one of the biggest rivers of European Russia. The principal tributary, tributaries of the Yug are the Sharzhenga (river), Sharzhenga (left), the Kichmenga (river), Kichmenga (left), the Yontala (right), the Pushma (right), and the Luza (river), Luza (right). Yugh people (pronounced ; often written Yug) are a critically endangered Yeniseian people, an indigenous group who originally lived throughout central Siberia. The Yugh people live along the Yenisei River from Yeniseisk to the mouth of the Dupches River. Recent history Previously the Yughs were considered part of the northern group of Ket people, but in the 1960s the Yugh were distinguished from the Ket, having their own distinct, although related, Yugh language and customs. By the late 1980s the Yugh people, along with their language, had disappeared as a separate ethnic group. By the early 1990s the Yugh language was considered extinct, as only two or three non-fluent Yugh language speakers remained. The Yugh people, along with their relatives the Ket and other extinct branches are referred to as ''Yeniseians'' by linguists and ethnographers. Azerbaijan State Theatre "Yuğ"
The theatre YUĞ was established in 1989 under the auspices of the Azerbaijan State Academic National Drama Theatre by Vagif Ibrahimoglu and Hasanaga Turabov. In 1992, the theatre got the status of ‘a state theatre’. According to its creators, the name of the theatre carries a meaning: YUĞ means ‘an old rite’. Everything, however, is more complicated as it seems, because this burial ritual during which were played the scenes from the life of the deceased, symbolizes a return to the memory.
