Yuen Lung () is one of the 39 constituencies in the Yuen Long District of Hong Kong. The constituency returns one district councillor to the Yuen Long District Council, with an election every four years. Yuen Lung constituency is loosely based on southeastern part of Yuen Long Town, covering Sun Yuen Long Centre and YOHO Town YOHO Town () is one of the largest private housing estates and shopping centres in Yuen Long, New Territories, Hong Kong. 2015 Hong Kong Local Elections
The 2015 Hong Kong District Council elections were held on 22 November 2015. Elections were held to all 18 District Councils with returning 431 members from directly elected constituencies after all appointed seats had been abolished. A record-breaking 1.4 million voters, or 47 per cent of the registered voters, went to cast their votes. The pro-Beijing camp retained its control of all 18 councils with the Beijing-loyalist party Democratic Alliance for the Betterment and Progress of Hong Kong (DAB) maintained the largest party far ahead of other parties. New People's Party (Hong Kong)
The New People's Party (NPP) is a conservative political party in Hong Kong. Chaired by Regina Ip, it is currently the fourth largest party in the Legislative Council. Established by former senior government official Regina Ip in 2011, the party aims at broadening the middle class and civil servant votes where the pro-Beijing camp had traditionally underperformed. Tommy Cheung Sau-yin (; born 16 April 1994) is a Hong Kong activist and a former Yuen Long District Councillor. He is the former spokesman of Scholarism, president of the of the Chinese University of Hong Kong and the standing committee of the Hong Kong Federation of Students (HKFS). Biography He was a core member of Scholarism which was formed in 2011 to launch campaigns against the proposed Moral and National Education which was seen as biased pro-Communist curriculum and became the spokesman of the group. The campaign successfully mobilised the thousands in protest and led to the turndown of the curriculum by the government in September 2012. Cheung was later enrolled to the Chinese University of Hong Kong, studying Politics and Public Administration. He became the president of the Student Union in 2014 and the member of the Hong Kong Federation of Students (HKFS). 2019 Hong Kong Local Elections
The 2019 Hong Kong District Council elections were held on 24 November 2019 for all 18 District Councils of Hong Kong. 452 seats from all directly elected constituencies, out of the 479 seats in total, were contested. Nearly three million people voted, equivalent to 71 per cent of registered voters, an unprecedented turnout in the electoral history of Hong Kong. The Business and Professionals Alliance for Hong Kong (BPA) is a pro-business pro-Beijing political party in Hong Kong. YOHO Town () is one of the largest private housing estates and shopping centres in Yuen Long, New Territories, Hong Kong. It was developed by Sun Hung Kai Properties. Private housing YOHO Town is divided into four phases. Phase 1 "Yoho Town" has 2,200 residential units in eight blocks built in 2004. Phase 2 "Yoho Midtown" was completed in 2010, and consists of eight residential buildings and a commercial shopping centre, YOHO Mall, opened in September 2015. The Yuen Long District Council () is the district council for the Yuen Long District in Hong Kong. It is one of 18 such councils.
