Yudalsan
Yudal Mountain () is a mountain located in Mokpo city, Jeollanam-do in South Korea. It is one of the "8 Scenes of Mokpo" and is a symbol of the city. At the summit, thousands of islands can be seen with several hills of strange looking rocks. The nickname of the mountain is Mountain Gaegol, which refers to Mountain Geumgang in North Korea during the summer. The three highest peaks are called first, second and madang bawi(rock). Two monuments are found on or near the mountain; the first is a statue of General Yi Sun-sin, the other is of a famous singer Lee Nan-young Lee Nan-young (; June 6, 1916 – April 11, 1965) was a Korean singer and actress most famous for the 1935 hit trot song "", which sold 50,000 copies. Mokpo
Mokpo (; ''Mokpo-si'') is a city in South Jeolla Province, South Korea, located at the southwestern tip of the Korean Peninsula, close to Yudal mountain. Mokpo has frequent high-speed train services to Seoul, and is the terminus for a number of ferry routes serving islands in the adjacent Yellow Sea and Dadohae National Maritime Park. During the Japanese Occupation (1910–1945), Mokpo served as a crucial port for both commercial ventures and public transportation, due to its location along the sea routes between the Japanese archipelago and the Chinese mainland. The large number of islands surrounding Mokpo have also served as a protective barrier, making the city less vulnerable to high tides and tsunamis. Yi Sun-sin
Admiral Yi Sun-sin (April 28, 1545 – December 16, 1598) was a Korean admiral and military general famed for his victories against the Japanese navy during the Imjin war in the Joseon Dynasty. Over the course of his career, Admiral Yi fought in at least 23 recorded naval engagements, all against the Japanese. In most of these battles, he was outnumbered and lacked necessary supplies. He nonetheless won battle after battle. Lee Nan-young (; June 6, 1916 – April 11, 1965) was a Korean singer and actress most famous for the 1935 hit trot song "", which sold 50,000 copies. Biography Lee was born in Japanese Korea, in the port city of Mokpo, South Jeolla Province. Her name at birth was Lee Ok-soon (이옥순), but it was later changed to Lee Ok-rye (이옥례). Her father's name was Lee Nam-soon (이남순) and she had a brother, , who was a composer. She had a difficult childhood and did not graduate from school. She became an actress in 1930, and debuted as a singer under OK Records in 1932, with the stage name Lee Nan-young. She was also a member of Jeogori Sisters, considered to be Korea's first girl group. She was the original singer of "Tears of Mokpo," one of the hit songs in the history of Korean popular songs.
