Youngs Memorial Cemetery is a small cemetery in the village of Oyster Bay Cove, New York in the United States of America. It is located approximately one and a half miles south of Sagamore Hill National Historic Site. The cemetery was chartered in 1900 and was located on land owned by the Youngs family. Oyster Bay Cove, New York
Oyster Bay Cove is a village located within the Town of Oyster Bay in Nassau County, on Long island, in New York. The population was 2,197 at the 2010 census. History The village incorporated in 1931, and on January 14, 1932, residents unanimously voted in George T. Bowdoin as the first Mayor of Oyster Bay Cove. The village expanded its borders through annexations in 1963. Geography According to the United States Census Bureau, the village has a total area of , of which is land and (1.41%) is water. Demographics At the 2000 census there were 2,262 people, 725 households, and 633 families in the village. The population density was 538.1 people per square mile (207.9/km). There were 742 housing units at an average density of 176.5 per square mile (68.2/km). Edith Kermit Roosevelt ( née Carow; August 6, 1861 – September 30, 1948) was the second wife of President Theodore Roosevelt and the First Lady of the United States from 1901 to 1909. The Oyster Bay History Walk is a path through downtown Oyster Bay, New York that leads the walker to 30 historic sites. It is a 1-mile loop and is the first certified American Heart Association Start! Walking Path on Long Island. Origins and development The first settlers arrived in Oyster Bay in the 1650s; the Town of Oyster Bay seal includes the date 1653. Over the ensuing 350 years several important events in the religious, military, and social history of Colonial America and the United States occurred there. A few of these events and the people associated with them are celebrated in the History Walk. Seven of the sites included on the History Walk are also listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
