Young Middenface
Archibald "Middenface" McNulty is a fictional character from the series ''Strontium Dog'' appearing in the British comic anthology '' 2000 AD'', as well as his own spin-off series. He is a frequent companion of the series' star, Johnny Alpha. Plot The story is set in 22nd-century Scotland, which has been warped by radioactive fallout where mutants are the underclass of future Britain. McNulty grew up in the Scottish mutant ghetto called Shytehill (a reference to Sighthill - the Scottish slang term for shit is 'shite'). Middenface gets his nickname from his signature mutation – his skull is covered in hard, knobby bumps which range in size, number and density depending on the artist. Although this mutation is usually portrayed in the comics as purely cosmetic, there have been instances where Middenface shows to have an unnaturally hard skull. Strontium Dog
''Strontium Dog'' was a long-running British comics series starring Johnny Alpha, a mutant bounty hunter who lives in Earth's future. The series was created in 1978 by writer John Wagner (under the pseudonym T. B. Grover) and artist Carlos Ezquerra for '' Starlord'', a short-lived weekly science fiction comic. When ''Starlord'' was cancelled, the series transferred to the British science fiction weekly '' 2000 AD''. In 1980, Wagner was joined by co-writer Alan Grant, although scripts were normally credited to Grant alone. Grant wrote the series by himself from 1988 to 1990. Wagner revived the series after a ten year hiatus in 2000. After Ezquerra's death in October 2018, the series was put in indefinite hiatus with no current plans for its continuation (other than some single-episode stories in special issues aimed at younger readers). The novel in Scotland includes all long prose fiction published in Scotland and by Scottish authors since the development of the literary format in the eighteenth century. John McCrea (comics)
John McCrea (born 1966) is a comic book artist best known for his collaborations with writer Garth Ennis. Career In 1989, after a few years of drawing television and toy tie-ins, he illustrated Ennis's debut, the political series ''Troubled Souls'', in ''Crisis'', as well as its sequel, the farce ''For a Few Troubles More''. He later illustrated the series ''Carla Allison'' in ''Deadline''. He broke into American comics in 1993, drawing Ennis's run on DC Comics's '' The Demon'', followed by its spin-off, ''Hitman'', from 1996 to 2001, on which McCrea developed a versatile drawing style equally at home with goofy humour, action, and subtle characterisation. Simon Mark Harrison (born 6 September 1969 in Northampton) is a British racing driver. He won two National Saloon Car Championships in 1994 and 1999, as well as the Production Class of the British Touring Car Championship in 2001. Harrison's 23 year racing career spanned 23 started with winning his local karting championship on his first attempt. Carlos Sanchez Ezquerra (12 November 1947 – 1 October 2018) was a Spanish comics artist who worked mainly in British comics. He is best known as the co-creator of ''Judge Dredd''. John Wagner
John Wagner (born 1949) is an American-born British comics writer. Alongside Pat Mills, he helped revitalise British comics in the 1970s, and continues to be active in the British comics industry, occasionally also working in American comics. He is best known as the co-creator, with artist Carlos Ezquerra, of the character Judge Dredd. Wagner started his career in editorial with D. C. Thomson & Co. in the late 1960s before becoming a freelance writer and a staff editor at IPC Media, IPC in the 1970s. ''Dogbreath'' is a fanzine dedicated to the '' 2000 AD'' series ''Strontium Dog''. Publication history ''Dogbreath'' was started by Dr Bob (Amanda Kear), who had been writing ''Strontium Dog'' fan fiction since 1981. Her experience with getting other work published in other fanzines (covering, for example, ''Doctor Who'' and ''Blake's 7'') made her realise that she could create her own publication devoted to ''Strontium Dog''. After 14 issues, over 8 years, she handed over the reins to members of the FutureQuake Press (FQP) team. Creators ''Dogbreath'' contributors during Dr Bob’s editorship who have gone on to be art and script droids for ''2000 AD'' itself include Rufus Dayglo and Al Ewing.
