Young Liberals (Switzerland)
The Young Liberals of Switzerland (german: Jungfreisinnige Schweiz, french: Jeunes Libéraux-Radicaux Suisse, it, Giovani Liberali Radicali Svizzera, rm, Giuvens Liberals Svizra), abbreviated to YLS (german: JF), is the youth wing of FDP.The Liberals. It was founded in 1906 and, with more than 4,400 members aged between 15 and 35. International Federation Of Liberal Youth
The International Federation of Liberal Youth (IFLRY) is an international liberal youth organization. It consists of a global membership of national youth organizations. These are often but not exclusively affiliated with political parties that are members of Liberal International. IFLRY holds full member status to Liberal International and the European Youth Forum ( YFJ), which operates within the Council of Europe and European Union areas and works closely with both these bodies. European Liberal Youth
European Liberal Youth (abbreviated as LYMEC) is an international organisation of liberal youth movements – mostly the youth wings of members of the Alliance of Liberals and Democrats for Europe Party but also individual members. LYMEC holds full members status to the European Youth Forum ( YFJ). It is the official youth wing of the Alliance of Liberals and Democrats for Europe (ALDE) Party and holds separate votes in the statutory bodies of the ALDE Party. Even though the organisation is now called European Liberal Youth, it is still known as LYMEC, which is the abbreviation of the name when the organisation was formed in 1976. It was then known as Liberal and Radical Youth Movement of the European Communities. The National Council (german: Nationalrat; french: Conseil national; it, Consiglio nazionale; rm, Cussegl naziunal) is the lower house of the Federal Assembly of Switzerland, the upper house being the Council of States. With 200 seats, the National Council is the larger of the two houses. Adult citizens elect the council's members, who are called National Councillors, for four year terms. Andri Sebastian Silberschmidt also Silberschmidt-Buhofer (; born 26 February 1994) is a Swiss businessman, politician and former banker. He currently serves as a member of the National Council (Switzerland) for The Liberals since 2019. Early life and education Silberschmidt was born on 26 February 1994 in Zürich, Switzerland to Georg and Katharina Silberschmidt (née Wimmer). Christa Markwalder (born 27 July 1975) is a Swiss politician and former President of the National Council. Markwalder studied jurisprudence and ecology at the University of Bern. She then worked as an assistant at the Institute for European and International Economic Law at the University of Bern. Since January 2008 she has been working as a lawyer for Zurich Financial Services. Politics Markwalder joined the Young Liberals and sat in the city council of Burgdorf between 1999 and 2002. The Council of States (german: Ständerat, french: Conseil des États, it, Consiglio degli Stati, rm, Cussegl dals Stadis) is the upper house of the Federal Assembly of Switzerland, with the National Council being the lower house.
