Young Bristol
Young Bristol is a charity in Bristol, England providing activities for young people in the city. The organisation was founded in 1928, building on the Bristol Boys & Girls Club. It now runs 9 Youth center, youth clubs and provides community-based youth services including outdoor activities, mobile youth services, creative arts, outdoor employment, and informal educational programmes for young people. One of the largest clubs is the Broad Plain Boys' Club where the building was adorned with a Banksy mural. This was later sold, with the permission of Banksy, to raise money for the club. Banksy
Banksy is a pseudonymous England-based street artist, political activist and film director whose real name and identity remain unconfirmed and the subject of speculation. Active since the 1990s, his satirical street art and subversive epigrams combine dark humour with graffiti executed in a distinctive stenciling technique. His works of political and social commentary have appeared on streets, walls and bridges throughout the world. Bristol Archives (formerly Bristol Record Office) was established in 1924. It was the first borough record office in the United Kingdom, since at that time there was only one other local authority record office (Bedfordshire) in existence. It looks after the official archives of the City of Bristol, besides collecting and preserving many other records relating to the city and surrounding area for current and future generations to consult. It moved from the City Hall to newly converted premises in the former B Bond Warehouse in 1992. Central Police Station, Bristol
The Central Police Station, also known as the Bridewell is a historic building on Nelson Street, Broadmead, Bristol, England. It was opened in 1828 and finally closed in 2005. It is a grade II listed building. History Prior to the construction of the present building, the Central Police Station had been located in Bridewell Street. In 1880, the watch committee were involved in the setting up of an independent fire brigade and a site was chosen adjacent to the police station. A steam fire engine was purchased and arrangements were made to stable the horses needed to pull the fire engine in the yard of the police station. The Nelson Street building was built in 1928 by Ivor Jones and Percy Thomas and opened as a police station in November 1930 near the site of a previous station. Jonathan Mark Webb (born 24 August 1963 in London, England) is a specialist knee surgeon and former English rugby union fullback. Webb played for the England national team from 1987 to 1993, reaching the 1991 World Cup Final and winning two Five Nations grand slam titles.
