"You Are My Love" is a song with music by Constantine Callinicos and lyrics by Paul Francis Webster Paul Francis Webster (December 20, 1907 – March 18, 1984) was an American lyricist who won three Academy Awards for Best Original Song, and was nominated sixteen times for the award. Life and career Webster was born in New York City, United St ..., recorded in 1953 by American tenor Mario Lanza. It was one of four songs Lanza recorded with Callinicos on 17 June 1953, and became a minor hit. Lanza had been offered the song two years prior but turned it down, leading Callinicos to give it to soprano Marcelle Reale who performed it on tour with the Highland Park Symphony Orchestra. Lanza then paid Callinicos $2,000 for the song, and took several takes to record it to his satisfaction. Liverpool Express (also known as L.E.X.) are a British pop rock band formed in 1975. They are best known for charting hit songs such as "You Are My Love" (which Paul McCartney once declared one of his favourite songs), "Every Man Must Have a Dream", "Hold Tight" and "Dreamin. History Formation Musicians Billy Kinsley, Roger Scott Craig, Tony Coates, and Derek Cashin met during a game of football in Liverpool. They decided to form a band which was eventually named Liverpool Express.
