''You're Gettin' Even While I'm Gettin' Odd'' is the eleventh and final studio album by American Rock music, rock band the J. Geils Band and the only one recorded without singer Peter Wolf. The band's keyboardist Seth Justman produced the album, performed all the song and horn arrangements, wrote all the songs with lyrical help from Paul Justman, and provided the majority of the album's lead vocals, with drummer Stephen Jo Bladd singing lead on three tracks. Compared to the band's earlier works, which leaned towards a more live rock band sound, ''You're Gettin' Even While I'm Gettin' Odd'' emphasizes overdubbing and production. The album was released on October 5, 1984, by EMI Records. The album contained one single, "Concealed Weapons", which peaked at No. 63 on the ''Billboard'' Hot 100 chart. Phoebe Snow (born Phoebe Ann Laub; July 17, 1950 – April 26, 2011) was an American roots music singer-songwriter and guitarist, known for her hit 1974 and 1975 songs "San Francisco Bay Blues", "Poetry Man", "Harpo's Blues", and her credited guest vocals backing Paul Simon on "Gone at Last". Danny Klein
Daniel Klein (born May 23, 1946) is an American bassist best known as a member of The J. Geils Band. Early life Daniel Klein was born on May 23, 1946, in the Bronx, New York City. He moved to New Jersey at age 6 and in 1964 he began attending Worcester Polytechnic Institute in Massachusetts studying mechanical engineering. It was there that he met musicians John Geils and Richard Salwitz. By 1966 Klein left WPI to pursue a career in music. Musical career While attending college Klein formed a jug band with Salwitz and Geils. When Peter Wolf, Seth Justman and Stephen Jo Bladd joined they changed their name to The J. Seth Justman
Seth Justman (born January 27, 1951) is the keyboard player for the U.S. rock band, The J. Geils Band. Biography Justman was born in Washington, D.C., grew up in Atlantic City, and is Jewish. He co-wrote many of the band's songs with singer Peter Wolf, and took sole songwriting credits for the band's biggest international hit, "Centerfold" (number 1 for six weeks on the ''Billboard'' Hot 100). Seth is the brother of Paul Justman, director of the 2002 movie, ''Standing in the Shadows of Motown''. Paul and Seth shared songwriting credits for most of the songs on the band's final album, ''You're Gettin' Even While I'm Gettin' Odd''. Long View Farm Studios was a music recording studio located in North Brookfield, Massachusetts which was founded in 1974 by Gilbert Scott Markle, a professor at Clark University, on his farm property. Peter Wolf
Peter Wolf (born March 7, 1946) is an American musician best known as the lead vocalist of the J. Geils Band from 1967 to 1983 and as a solo artist. Early life and education Peter Wolf was born Peter Walter Blankfield on March 7, 1946 in The Bronx, New York City, New York, New York (state), New York. He attended the High School of Music & Art, located in west Harlem, Manhattan, near the Apollo Theater. He often attended the Apollo, seeing many of the famous soul, rhythm & blues, and gospel artists who influenced him. He moved to Boston, Massachusetts, to attend the School of the Museum of Fine Arts at Tufts on scholarship, where he studied painting. His first roommate was film director David Lynch.
