Yotuel Omar Manzanares Romero (born October 6, 1976), mononymously known as Yotuel, is a Cuban singer, actor, and current lead singer and co-writer of the 2003 Latin Grammy Award-winning Platinum album-selling rap group Orishas (band), Orishas. Among other recordings, ''Emigrante (Orishas album), Emigrante'' won the 2003 Latin Grammy Award for Best Rap/Hip-Hop Album. This same album was also nominated for the Grammy Awards of 2003, 2003 Grammy Award for Best Latin Rock/Alternative Album. Life Yotuel was born in Havana into an Afro-Cuban family. His name is a combination of three Spanish pronouns ''yo'', ''tú'' and ''él'' (I, you, and he). His parents could not agree on a name so they decided to combine all 3 pronouns. Beatriz Luengo González (born 23 December 1982) is a Spanish people, Spanish singer, songwriter, actress, dancer, and entrepreneur based in Miami. She gained international recognition by portraying Lola Fernández in the Antena 3 (Spain), Antena 3 series ''Un Paso Adelante, One Step Forward'' (Spanish language, Spanish: ''Un paso adelante'') and its spin–off musical group UPA Dance. Orishas (band)
Orishas are a Cuban hip hop group from Havana, Cuba, founded in 1999. The group was first called ''"Amenaza"'', ''"threat"'' or ''"menace"'' in Spanish, and appealed to the Cuban youth. The choice of this name for the hip hop group is a way of creating a direct link between this band and the African diaspora. The group is based in France where they made a deal with a record company, although they visit Cuba frequently. In 1999 Fidel Castro threw a party for them and had a meeting with all the musicians. It was the first time the Cuban government showed support for hip hop music. The group was and still is popular in Europe (especially France, Italy, Spain and Portugal) and Latin America. "Patria y Vida" ("Homeland and Life") is a slogan and song associated with the July 2021 Cuban protests. It is an inversion of the Cuban Revolution motto ''Patria o Muerte'' ("Homeland or Death"). Luis Manuel Otero Alcántara
Luis Manuel Otero Alcántara (born December 2, 1987) is a Cuban performance artist and dissident, known for his public performances that openly criticize the Cuban government and its policies. A self-taught artist, Alcántara lives in the El Cerro neighborhood of Havana. Since 2018 Alcántara has been arrested dozens of times for his performances in violation of Decree 349, a Cuban law requiring artists to obtain advance permission for public and private exhibitions and performances. 2021 Cuban Protests
A series of protests against the Cuban government and the Communist Party of Cuba began on 11 July 2021, triggered by a shortage of food and medicine and the government's response to the resurgent COVID-19 pandemic in Cuba.
