Yoso Members
Yoso was a short-lived American rock supergroup combining former members of Yes ( Tony Kaye and Billy Sherwood) and Toto ( Bobby Kimball). It was a spin-off from the group Circa. History The band grew out of a plan for Kimball and Circa (consisting of Sherwood, Kaye, guitarist Jimmy Haun and drummer Jay Schellen) to play together on an Italian tour in early 2009. This was cancelled, but it was decided to form a new band with all five, announced under the name AKA; this was later changed to Yoso (a combination of Yes and Toto). With Schellen busy with other projects, he was replaced by Lou Molino III, who has worked previously with Sherwood and former Yes guitarist Trevor Rabin. An album was recorded in 2009. The band played three Mexican dates in October 2009. In December, Sherwood announced the band would be moving forward with Jody Cortez on drums, and also that they had acquired Derek Shulman as their manager. Some live shows in early 2010 followed. Jody Cortez
Jody Cortez (born 1960) is an American studio musician. A drummer, Cortez began his professional career at the age of 21 as a member of Boz Scaggs' live band in 1981. Cortez played drums on glam metal band Cinderella (band), Cinderella's 1986 debut album ''Night Songs (Cinderella album), Night Songs'' after band drummer Jim Drnec was unable to complete the drum parts in studio and was fired. Fred Coury would later be hired as the band's permanent drummer. Though never an official member of Cinderella, the earliest pressing of ''Night Songs'' features a photo of Cortez on the back cover, though Coury was pictured on the album's front cover photo and listed as a band member in the liner notes. Cortez has worked with David Crosby and played on the live version of the hit single "Hero" by Crosby and Phil Collins. ''90125'' is the eleventh studio album by the English progressive rock band Yes, released on 11 November 1983 by Atco Records. After Yes disbanded in 1981, following the ''Drama'' (1980) tour, bassist Chris Squire and drummer Alan White formed Cinema with guitarist and singer-songwriter Trevor Rabin and original Yes keyboardist Tony Kaye, who was fired in 1971, and began recording an album. They adopted a more commercial and pop-oriented musical direction as the result of their new material, much of which derived from Rabin's demos, with former Yes singer Trevor Horn as their producer. During the mixing stage, former Yes singer Jon Anderson, who had left in 1980, accepted the invitation to return and record the lead vocals, and subsequently Cinema became the new lineup of Yes. Genesis (band)
Genesis are an English rock band formed at Charterhouse School, Godalming, Surrey, in 1967. The band's most commercially successful line-up consisted of keyboardist Tony Banks, bassist/guitarist Mike Rutherford and drummer/singer Phil Collins. The 1970s line-up, featuring singer Peter Gabriel and guitarist Steve Hackett, was among the pioneers of progressive rock. The group were formed by five Charterhouse pupils, including Banks, Rutherford, Gabriel, and Anthony Phillips, and named by former Charterhouse pupil Jonathan King, who arranged for them to record several singles and their debut album ''From Genesis to Revelation'' in 1968. After splitting from King, the band began touring, signed with Charisma Records and became a progressive rock band on ''Trespass'' (1970). Derek Shulman
Derek Victor Shulman (born 11 February 1947) is a Scottish musician and singer, multi-instrumentalist, and record executive. From 1970 to 1980, he was lead vocalist for the band Gentle Giant. Career Born in the Gorbals, Glasgow, Scotland, Shulman began his recording career as the singer of British pop band Simon Dupree and the Big Sound, with Pete O'Flaherty, Eric Hine, Tony Ransley, and his brothers Phil Shulman and Ray Shulman. Recording in the late 1960s for Parlophone Records, the band struggled with creative difficulties after experiencing some commercial success with several top 40 hits, including the top 10 hit "Kites". The band finally dissolved in 1969. Trevor Rabin
Trevor Charles Rabin (; born ) is a South African rock musician and composer. Born into a musical family and raised in Johannesburg, Rabin took up the piano and guitar at an early age and became a session musician, playing and producing with a variety of artists. In 1972, he joined the rock band Rabbitt who enjoyed considerable success in South Africa, and released his first solo album, ''Beginnings''. In 1978, Rabin moved to London to further his career, working as a solo artist and a producer for various artists including Manfred Mann's Earth Band. After moving to Los Angeles in 1981, Rabin gained prominence as the guitarist in the progressive rock band Yes from 1983 to 1995. A supergroup is a musical group whose members are successful as solo artists or as members of other successful groups. The term became popular in the late 1960s when members of already successful rock groups recorded albums together, after which they normally disband. Charity supergroups, in which prominent musicians perform or record together in support of a particular cause, have been common since the 1980s. The term is most common context of rock and pop music, but it has occasionally been applied to other musical genres. Christopher “Scott” Connor (born July 14, 1960) is a professional percussionist and vocalist. Specializing in drums and percussion, Connor is based out of the Southern California area. His specialties are rock, contemporary and progressive rock music. He is a veteran of the Los Angeles music club scene and has toured in the United States as well as Europe with super group Yoso (with Billy Sherwood, Bobby Kimball and Tony Kaye (musician), Tony Kaye).
